Maersk Names Fourth Jack-up at DSME

Maersk Drilling’s fourth XL Enhanced ultra-harsh environment jack-up was named on 14 October at a ceremony held at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea. At the edge of the bustling Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea, the Maersk Invincible’s jack-up legs towered over her own naming ceremony on Friday. The world’s largest jack-up drilling rig was named with a bottle of champagne, and a giant ball opened to shower guests, including Group Vice CEO Claus V.

Maersk Welcomes Suez Canal Expansion

As the largest customer of the Suez Canal with more than 1,400 transits in 2014, the Maersk Group welcomes the expansion of the Suez Canal and the advantages it entails. Egypt has all through the 20th and 21st century acted as the bridge between Europe and Asia thereby enabling global trade and growth. From 2004 to 2014, container volumes transported via the Suez Canal has grown around 70 percent and the expansion confirms the Suez Canal Authority’s continuous commitment to accommodating growth in trade. Skou Appointed CEO of Maersk Line

Søren Skou has been appointed new CEO of Maersk Line with effect from 16 January 2012. Søren Skou was previously CEO of Maersk Tankers and replaces Eivind Kolding who is leaving Maersk Line to become Chairman of the Executive Board of Danske Bank. ”Under Eivind Kolding’s skilled leadership, Maersk Line has undergone an impressive turnaround. Its competitiveness has improved significantly and at the same time, Maersk Line has set new standards for the industry with regards to environment and reliability.
