Maersk Sees Rise in Asia Trade Volume

The world's biggest container shipping line Maersk Line  by capacity estimates  up to a 15% increase in container volumes from Asia to the rest of the world in early 2016, which could indicate that industry demand is on the rise, despite recent issues with weak demand and swelling overcapacity, according to The Wall Street Journal. Robbert Van Trooijen, CEO of Maersk Line Asia Pacific, said, “There has been more demand certainly this time around than it was last year. Maersk Line wins 'Shipping Line of the Year' title at Supply Chain Asia (SCA) Logistics Awards 2012 in Singapore. The company was judged best in class among operators in the region – beating other finalists that included APL, Cosco, Hanjin, and Yang Ming. John Corris, Head of Regional Key Client Management, accepted the trophy from SCA on behalf of Maersk Line Asia Pacific Chief Executive Thomas Knudsen. “It is an honour for Maersk Line to win such an award. It validates our commitment to our clients to be a trusted and responsible partner now and always,” Corris said.

Maersk Line Wins Two Awards at ASFCA 2011

Maersk Line took home the “Best Global Shipping Line” and “Best Green Service Provider - Shipping Line” at the 25th annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards, which was held in Singapore on 27th April 2011. Maersk Line won the “Best Global Shipping Line” award for the 18th consecutive year, which serves testimony to its continued status as the global leader in container shipping. It was also the second time that Maersk Line was awarded “Best Green Service Provider - Shipping Line”, recognition of its leadership on environmental performance.

Maersk: Partnership on Low-Sulfur fuel In Singapore

Maersk Line welcomes the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative and actively supports a joint industry approach to cleaner fuels in Singapore. Copenhagen, Singapore: April 13, 2011 - Today, Maersk Line announced its active participation in the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative by committing to switching to low-sulphur fuel in Singapore. The announced fuel switch backs up the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s engagement with the shipping line community to reduce carbon and sulphur emissions in Singapore.

Maersk Line Asia Pacific Appoints Gray

Maersk Line announced the appointment of Katie Gray as the new Regional Process Excellence Manager for the Asia Pacific region. Katie will be overall responsible for driving a portfolio of Process Excellence (PEX) strategies, initiatives and plans through effective end-to-end project and change management. Katie assumes her new role with immediate effect and is based in Singapore, reporting to Jesper Praestensgaard, Chief Executive of Maersk Line Asia Pacific. Katie joined Maersk Line in 1994, holding various positions in the United Kingdom and Copenhagen.

Noes to Lead Maersk Line Australia

The A.P. Moller – Maersk Group today announced the appointment of Nicolaj Noes as the new Maersk Line Country Manager for Australia. Nicolaj will be responsible for the development and execution of strategy in Australia, overseeing sales, operations and customer service. The 39-year-old is scheduled to assume his new role from August 2, 2010 in Sydney, Australia. He reports directly to Jesper Praestensgaard, Chief Executive for Maersk Line Asia Pacific. “We are very pleased to have Nicolaj join our team. His vast industry knowledge, deep insights into the Oceania trade and long-standing shipping experience makes him a strong asset to Maersk Line and our customers.
