Swedish based Trelleborg AB has finalized the acquisition of Maritime International, Inc., a U.S. based privately owned designer and manufacturer of marine fender systems and other quay accessories. The transaction will be consolidated as of October 15, 2015. British engineering group Rolls-Royce (RR.L) said it would cut 600 jobs in its Norwegian-focused marine business in response to the lower oil price, a move it said would have a "broadly neutral" impact on 2015 profits. Rolls-Royce is in the middle of a cost-saving plan in its aero-engines business and headquarters, axing 2,600 jobs, and the streamlining of its marine business comes after a year of profit downgrades and cancelled orders. The company said that from 2016, the job cuts in marine would help generate 25 million pounds of benefits.

Princess Yachts, luxury yacht builders, are using freestanding Goliath cranes from Street Crane Company to produce their new 30 to 40 metre M Class tri-deck yachts. The cranes, installed at the historic South Yard of the Devonport Dockyard, will allow large fabrications to be lifted, transported and accurately placed as the yachts are fitted out. There are three cranes in use. The main manufacturing area is serviced by two mirror image Goliath cranes of 16 tonnes safe working load, each spanning 13.75 metres.

While most college students completed their spring semester and departed campus for summer jobs, internships or volunteer opportunities, nearly 250 cadets from the Maine Maritime Academy are utilizing the summer months to gain valuable experience out on the open seas. Launching from Castine, Maine, United States, these young men and women boarded the Training Vessel State of Maine and charted their course east for a cruise through western Europe, including stops in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. However, one of the most unique experiences of the trip was a cruise through the Kiel Canal in Germany, which links the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.

Konecranes has acquired Spanish company Ausió Sistemas de Elevación S.L. (Ausió). The company specializes in manufacturing, sales and service of industrial cranes and hoists. Konecranes acquired the company from its owner, who will continue as General Manager in the company. The company has some 100 employees and net sales of EUR 17 Million. The value of the acquisition is not disclosed. Ausió's headquarters and main manufacturing facilities are located in Vic, about an hour's drive northwest of . The company manufactures about 600 cranes a year. Crane sales and service are handled through Ausió's own service outlets and through a sales network.
