Rimorchiatori Mediterranei Buys Keppel Smit Towage and Maju Maritime

Dutch marine services firm Boskalis and its co-shareholder KS Investments Pte. Ltd. (Keppel) have completed the sale of their equity stakes in their harbor towage activities in Singapore and Malaysia - Keppel Smit Towage Pte Ltd and Maju Maritime Pte Ltd - to Rimorchiatori Mediterranei.Boskalis received EUR 92 million in cash for its 49% equity stake in the joint ventures resulting in a pre tax book gain of approximately EUR 50 million. Keppel Smit Towage (KST) was established in 1991 as a joint venture between Keppel and SMIT, a subsidiary of Boskalis. Over the past thirty years, Boskalis said, KST/Maju has developed into one of the largest and leading providers of harbor towage services in Southeast Asia.

MPA Pumps $8.9 Mln More into Singapore's LNG Bunkering

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has injected another S$12 million (US$8.9 million) to boost liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering in the Port of Singapore. Half of this S$12 million has been set aside to co-fund the building of new LNG bunker vessels to facilitate the development of ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in the Port of Singapore. The remaining half will be used to top up MPA’s existing co-funding program to support the building of LNG-fuelled vessels. Launched in 2015, the initial funding for this programme has been fully utilised to support Keppel SMIT Towage Pte Ltd, Maju Maritime Pte Ltd, Harley Marine Asia Pte Ltd, Sinanju Tankers Pte Ltd, and most recently, PSA Marine (Pte) Ltd. Andrew Tan, Chief Executive of MPA, said.

New Appointments at Keppel Strengthen Growth

The Board and Management of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) wish to announce several new appointments as part of ongoing efforts to put in place a strong leadership team to continually reinforce the Group's growth strategy. Mr Michael Chia, 59, has been appointed Managing Director (Marine) of Keppel O&M and will oversee Keppel O&M's Marine Division which includes Keppel Shipyard, Keppel Singmarine and other marine-related overseas yards. Mr Chia will concurrently hold his appointments as Managing Director (Technology) of Keppel O&M and Managing Director of Keppel O&M Technology Centre. He will report directly to Mr Chow Yew Yuen, Chief Operating Officer of Keppel O&M.

Keppel Singmarine Delivers Tractor Tug

Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd has delivered one of the world’s largest tractor tug to Maju Maritime Pte Ltd on time and within budget. Measuring 34 metres long with bollard pull in excess of 64 tons, Pisces 53 is on a long term charter through Briny Marine Services Sdn Bhd to support Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd’s exploration and production activities. Following her naming, Pisces 53 will join her sister vessel Phoenix 52 and an utility tug Pegasus 51, two other Maju Maritime tugs that were delivered in early June 2003, at the Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal in Lumut, Brunei.

Vessels: Keppel Singmarine Delivers Tractor Tug

Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd. delivered one of the world's largest tractor tugs to Maju Maritime Pte Ltd. Measuring 111.5 ft. long with bollard pull in excess of 64 tons, Pisces 53 is on a long-term charter through Briny Marine Services Sdn Bhd to support Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd's exploration and production activities. Pisces 53 will joined her sister vessel Phoenix 52 and an utility tug Pegasus 51, two other Maju Maritime tugs that were delivered in early June 2003, at the Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal in Lumut, Brunei. These vessels were contracted to Keppel Singmarine in May 2002. Pisces 53 is classified under LRS Maltese Cross as 100 A1 TUG + LMS (Unrestricted Service). Maju Maritime is managed by Smit Singapore.

Keppel Nantong Wins $75m in Tug Contracts

Keppel Nantong Shipyard Co. Ltd (Keppel Nantong), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), won three contracts worth a total of $75 million, including owner furnished equipment, to build eight tugs. The first contract is secured from Smit Internationale Beheer B.V (SMIT) to build two 90-ton bollard pull offshore support tugs. It will have anchor handling, diving support, and fire fighting capabilities. Delivery of these two vessels is expected in the first half of 2010. They will be deployed in West Africa. The second and third contracts are awarded by Keppel Smit Towage Pte Ltd and Maju Maritime Pte Ltd. Each contract is for the construction of three 65-tonne bollard pull twin-screw Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) tugs.

KEPPEL TO RESTRUCTURE TOWAGE BUSINESS

Keppel Corp Ltd said on Tuesday it was restructuring its towage business which will be completed by the end of September. In a statement, the company announced that it has signed a letter of intent with Smit International Ltd. to sell 49 percent of its wholly-owned unit Maju Maritime Pte Ltd. to Smit.

Keppel Singmarine to Build two AHTS Vessels and Two Tugs

Keppel Singmarine (KSM), the specialized shipbuilding division of Keppel Offshore & Marine, will build two Anchor Handling Tug/ Supply (AHTS) vessels for CH Offshore Ltd, and two harbour tugs for Maju Maritime Pte Ltd. The total value of the four vessels is approximately S$42.5 million. The two AHTS vessels totaling S$33 million are expected to be delivered in August and October 2004 respectively, when they will be deployed to Asia and the Middle East for operations. Goh Boon Kiat, Executive Director of KSM said, “In terms of cargo carrying capacity and bollard pull, the vessels will be of an optimal design. "This particular design is extremely popular because of its versatility. The two AHTS vessels will have bollard pull in excess of 60 ton.
