Dredgers are expediting operations in New York to make way for the U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort, which will dock in the epicenter of America's COVID-19 outbreak to assist hospitals that become overrun by the pandemic.Dredging contractor Donjon Marine Co., Inc. was contacted last week and asked to begin dredging Manhattan Cruise Terminal’s Berth 4 in anticipation of the arrival of the ship, which under the order of President Trump will serve as a relief hospital facility for non-coronavirus patients needing hospital care.

Ports America promoted Steve Loevsky, formerly vice president-cruise operations division, to vice president operations – auto, ro-ro and cruise. Loevsky will lead Ports America’s auto and ro-ro business, including full oversight of safety, quality and productivity. P/L. Don Rupert, formerly VP auto, is the new vice president auto and ro-ro – commercial sales and will report directly to Loevsky.

TEAM Ports & Maritime wins New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) & Turner Construction Corporation contract. The contract is for the design, manufacture, assemble, transport and installation of two HYDRA Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs) at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York. The PBBs will provide seamless access for cruise guests from cruise terminal building to NCL’s Breakaway and vice versa. The NCL Breakaway will start turnaround operations in New York as of May 2013.

On Sunday, January 13, 2008, Cunard Line operator of The Most Famous Ocean Liners in the World will, for the first and only time, sail their three liner Queens – flagship Queen Mary 2, famed Queen Elizabeth 2 and the new Queen Victoria -- together out of New York harbor. The regal fleet is scheduled to depart at 6:30 p.m. Queen Mary 2 will depart from her home port, Brooklyn Cruise Terminal while QE2 will depart from Pier 92 and Queen Victoria will depart from Pier 88 both at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. Then, the three Queens will rendezvous and sail past the Statue of Liberty during a spectacular fireworks celebration at approximately 7:00 p.m.
