MR4WELD Debuts: Mobile, Robotic Welding for Shipbuilding

Italian companies Comau and Fincantieri presented today  the first result of their joint collaboration with Automatica: MR4Weld (Mobile Robot for Weld), a mobile robot, an innovative outdoor automation solution, designed to improve the quality, performance and well-being of operators during labor-intensive welding activities.The MR4Weld mobile robot is being tested and will be used in the Fincantieri shipyards to autonomously weld steel structures, with the possibility of increasing operations up to to 3 times compared to a manual process…

Global Shipping Rates Slump

Brent Crude Slips Below US$97

Brent crude fell for a third day on Wednesday, slipping further below $97 a barrel as inflated supplies and weak economic data from Europe outweighed rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. * U.S. The European economic data and a rise in oil exports from Iraq and Nigeria overshadowed a boost from China with Tuesday's release of a better-than-expected flash Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for September. Textron Choose IBASEt Manufacturing Software

SHI to Extend Existing Intergraph Software Installation

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has committed to using Intergraph’s Marine Enterprise solutions suite for the design and manufacturing of ships. SHI will extend its existing Intergraph software installation by adding a significant number of IntelliShip seats. In addition, Intergraph’s new solution ‘IntelliShip Foundation’ will act as a central information management system for engineering and manufacturing data at SHI.
