Samson to Acquire Folch Ropes

Samson, a Wind River Holdings company, entered into a purchase agreement with Folch Ropes, S.A. For 144 years, Samson has been a leader in the development and manufacture of high-performance ropes. Samson is headquartered are in Ferndale, Washington.Folch Ropes is a Spanish manufacturing company headquartered in Llinars del Vallès Barcelona. Folch began manufacturing braided ropes for the steel industry in 1942 and has enjoyed four generations of family ownership.Both companies have had a long history of success in the rope business with strong brands and are aligned with operational excellence and manufacturing quality products, including ISO 9001: 2015 certifications.

Ingalls Begins LPD 31 Fabrication

HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division started fabrication of the U.S. Navy’s newest San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock Pittsburgh (LPD 31) on Wednesday. Shipbuilder Halter Marine Orders Inrotech Welding Robots

A set of welding robots will help Halter Marine to improve productivity as it ramps up to build the U.S. Coast Guard’s new Polar Security Cutter (PSC).Denmark-based Inrotech said it will deliver its Inrotech-MicroTwin, Inrotech-Classic and Inrotech-Crawler to the the Pascagoula, Miss. shipyard in early 2021.Inrotech’s automated robot welding solution is customized according to Halter Marine’s production needs to efficiently weld components of the 460-foot Polar Security Cutter along with other oceangoing vessels, the company said.

Harrington Hoists Celebrates 150 Years

Harrington Hoists, Inc. is celebrating 150 years in the hoist business. The company was established in 1867 by Edwin Harrington, a machinist and inventor, when he started a machine shop and hoist business in Philadelphia. His company thrived as a result of his innovative ideas and continual improvements to the design and production of hoists. Stoody Debuts Technical Services Hotline

Stoody, an ESAB brand, has recently launched the new Stoody Tech Services (STS) hotline to provide a valuable resource to distributors and applicators seeking answers about product selection and the application of hardfacing and high alloy joining consumables. The new STS hotline will be attended by recently promoted Jonathan Cropper, Technical and Applications Specialist for the Stoody brand. With an accomplished background as a welding fabricator, Cropper joined Stoody in 2008 and has spent the past five years as a research and development welder. In this former role, he worked closely with product engineering, manufacturing, quality, and sales team members with responsibilities including product testing, weld analysis, and end user field support. The STS hotline is available 8 a.m.

Two Management Changes at Ellicott Dredge

Ellicott Dredge Enterprises announced two personnel changes to its senior management team. Gert de Vries has joined as Senior Director of Engineering, in which capacity he will be supporting the engineering departments of all of Ellicott's brands, principally Ellicott and Rohr-Idreco. He will also be mentoring the company’s engineering teams. Additionally, Rob Schettle has been promoted to General Manager at Ellicott's subsidiary Liquid Waste Technology. He will now be responsible for running Ellicott’s plant in New Richmond, Wisconsin.

Based in the U.K., he will lead the production, project management and offshore departments and help to manage Pulse’s recent geographical expansion. Freeman Marine Under New Ownership

Under New Ownership, Freeman Marine becomes part of the Advanced Marine Technologies Group. Freeman Marine Equipment Inc., a globally recognized brand and major US supplier to the worldwide marine industry, is now part of Advanced Marine Technologies (AMT). The company was purchased by AdvanTec Global Innovations of British Columbia, Canada. AdvanTec owns the four companies that make up the AMT Group. The other members of the group are Diamond Sea Glaze, Steelhead Marine and Manly Marine. Freeman Marine is the latest acquisition AdvanTec has made in its marine manufacturing division.

MERIDIAN GYROS APPROVED BY RUSSIANS

Teledyne TSS has been granted type approval by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping for its Meridian Standard and Meridian Surveyor gyrocompasses. The certification follows a detailed appraisal of the products and the manufacturing processes carried out at the modern Teledyne TSS factory in Croxley Green, UK. Innova Receives Type Approval From ABS

Innova Electronics received Type Approval from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). ABS Type Approval certifies that the product has been designed, constructed and is maintained in accordance with the rules and standards of the classification body. To obtain certification, Innova met ABS requirements in drawing assessment, prototype testing, assessment of the product manufacturing quality control and quality assurance arrangements, and routine surveillance of the manufacturing process.
