CorPower Starts Wave Energy Project in Portugal

Wilhelmsen to Use Drones to Deliver 3D Printed Spare Parts

Wilhelmsen’s Marine Products division signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Singapore-based drone delivery startup F-drones, for last mile delivery of its 3D printed spare parts.As the only drone delivery provider currently authorized by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) to execute drone deliveries beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) to vessels at anchorage, the agreement with F-drones enables Wilhelmsen to broaden the scope of its exclusive on-demand additive manufacturing service…

Parker Hannifin Launches Rapid Service Unit

Motion and control technologies company Parker Hannifin announced the introduction of its new rapid service unit as a part of the existing custom manufacturing operation. According to the company, the rapid service unit can turn certain orders for critical fittings, hose-tube combinations and other custom pieces in the same day they are received. New Directors Key to Isolation Experts STATS Group

STATS Group CEO, Pete Duguid, Carl-Petter Halvorsen and Dave Shand

STATS Group has appointed two new directors as part of a strategy to double the size of the business. Carl-Petter Halvorsen has joined the pipeline engineering company as business development director while Dave Shand takes up the newly created post of chief operating officer. The dual appointments will strengthen STATS’ management team and free up chief executive officer Pete Duguid to focus on international development of the company’s unique range of piping and isolation tools for the oil and gas industries.

EU and China Set to Collaborate on GALILEO

An agreement has been reached between the European Union and China on its participation in the GALILEO program. This agreement was initialled in Beijing on September 18 by F. Lamoureux, Director-General of Energy and Transport at the European Commission, and M Shi Dinghuan, Secretary General of China's Ministry of Science and Technology. “China will help GALILEO to become the major world infrastructure for the growing market for location services,” said Loyola de Palacio, Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for the GALILEO programme. Her counterpart in the negotiations, China's Science and Technology Minister Xu Guanhua highlighted that “China supports GALILEO and plans to participate actively in its construction and application for mutual benefits”.

Haats Assumes Management at MWH

Dr. Joachim Haats officially took over the management of Märkisches Werk GmbH, Halver on May 1. After 40 years, the managing director Dieter Hoffmann placed the reins of the Sauerland Company in new hands. Haats, who has been company since November 2001 as managing director together with Hoffmann, believes the philosophy for the future is well summarized with the slogan, “The future has begun.” The Märkisches Werk has achieved a unique and special position in the international market. My task is to consolidate this position and draw up strategies for the future. Haats, who has a doctorate of mechanical engineering, has progressed through various positions in forging technology and machining at the company Thyssen Umformtechnik.
