Group Set Up to Study Onboard Carbon Capture Technologies for Shipping Industry

Ship classification organization ABS said Tuesday it had joined an elite working group comprised of global maritime leaders to study onboard carbon capture technologies.The collaborative project brings together ABS, Diana Shipping Services S.A., Equinor ASA, GasLog LNG Services Ltd., Maran Gas Maritime Inc., Minerva Gas Inc., Neptune Lines Shipping and Managing Enterprises S.A., Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA), Prime Tanker Management Inc., Solvang ASA, Springfield Shipping Co.

Partners Exploring Ways to Cut Methane Emissions

Maran Gas Extends Maintenance Deal with Wärtsilä

Wärtsilä announce it has signed a renewal of its Optimized Maintenance Agreement with the Greek shipping company Maran Gas Maritime, part of Angelicoussis Shipping Group (ASGL). The new agreement will run for five additional years, and is designed to ensure operational certainty with controlled and predictable costs for Maran Gas’s fleet of 21 TFDE LNG carrier vessels. The signing took place on May 3, 2022.The Maran Gas vessels are all powered by Wärtsilä 50DF dual-fuel engines.

DSME Taps GTT to Design Tanks for Maran's New LNG Carriers

French engineering firm GTT announced it has received an order from South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for the tank design of four new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers on behalf of the Greek shipowner Maran Gas Maritime.As part of the order, GTT will design the tanks of the vessels which will each offer a capacity of 174,000 m3. The tanks will be fitted with the GTT NO96 GW membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT.The vessels are scheduled to be delivered in the third and fourth quarters of 2025.

GTT Wins Tank Design Order for Maran LNG Carrier Pair

French engineering firm GTT said it has received an order from its partner the South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for the tank design of two new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers on behalf of the Greek ship-owner Maran Gas Maritime.As part of this order, GTT will design the tanks of the vessels which will each offer a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters. The tanks will be fitted with the GTT NO96 GW membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT.Deliveries of the vessels are scheduled during second half 2024.

DSME Delivers Excelerate's 10th FSRU

South Korean shipbuilding firm Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has earlier this month delivered a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) to Excelerate Energy.The FSRU, named the Excelerate Sequoia, is Excelerate Energy's tenth FSRU vessel. All ten FSRUs were built by DSME.The vessel has a storage capacity of 173,400 cubic meters and is capable of operating as both an FSRU and a fully tradable LNG carrier, Excelerate Energy said. In September of last year, Excelerate and Maran Gas Maritime Inc. (MGM) signed a five-year bareboat charter agreement (BBC) for the FSRU.

Partners to Expand Pakistan LNG Inport Terminal

Excelerate Energy announced it has agreed with partner Engro Elengy Terminal Ltd. (EETL) to expand the EETL liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Port Qasim, Pakistan.Under the heads of agreement (HOA), Excelerate will exchange its existing floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Exquisite with a newbuild FSRU, Hull 2477, which is currently under construction at South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard and due to be delivered in April 2020.

Daewoo Wins Aggelikousis Order for 3 Ships

Excelerate Charters Out Maran Gas FSRU

Excelerate Energy and Maran Gas Maritime have signed a five-year bareboat charter agreement (BBC) for the floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) hull 2477.During the five-year BBC Excelerate will have the option to purchase Hull 2477. MGM is currently building Hull 2477 at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard and is scheduled for delivery in April 2020, when the BBC will start.The vessel will have a storage capacity of 173,400 m3 and will be capable of operating as both an FSRU and a fully tradable LNG carrier.Hull 2477 will join Excelerate's existing fleet of nine FSRUs, all built by DSME, and will serve Excelerate's portfolio of regasification customers.

DSME Wins LNG Carrier Order from Maran Gas

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has received a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier order from Maran Gas Maritime, part of Angelicoussis Shipping Group. DSME said that the order from the Greek shipping company is for a 174,000 cbm LNG carrier.The shipbuilder would construct the unit at its Geoje Okpo Shipyard. The new vessel is scheduled for delivery by the fourth quarter of 2021.The vessel will be equipped with DSMEs advanced partial re-liquefaction system (A-PRS).Maran Gas has ordered six out of the seven LNG carriers DSME booked this year.DSME's 2019 order-book currently stands at around USD 3 billion and includes 17 vessels, seven of which are LNG carriers.

DSME Wins LNG Ship Order from Maran Gas

DSME to Build LNG Carrier for Maran Gas

South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co (DSME) said  that it has secured a deal to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from Maran Gas Maritime Inc.DSME is expected to deliver the 174,000-cubic meter LNG ship during the first quarter of 2022 to  Maran Gas, the gas shipping unit of Angelicoussis Shipping Group, said a report by Yonhap.The deal is estimated to be worth some US$188 million, industry sources said. DSME Wins More LNG Carriers Order from Maran

DSME Bags LNG Carrier Order from Maran Gas

South Korea’s shipbuilding giant  Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has secured an order for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from Greece-based shipowner.According to Yonhap News Agency the South Korean shipbuilder received an order to build an LNG carrier for Maran Gas Maritime, a unit of the Angelicoussis Shipping Group.The newbuilding - 174,000 cbm ship - is expected to be delivered to its owner by the first half of 2021. The value of the contract has not been disclosed.Daewoo Shipbuilding has obtained US$740 million worth of orders so far this year to build seven ships, including oil tankers, Yonhap said.Daewoo Shipbuilding is aiming to win $8 billion worth of new orders in 2019, up 10 percent from last year's order target of $7.3 billion.

Golar FSRU Wins LNG Croatia Project

Angelicoussis Books its 100th Ship at DSME

South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has bagged an order from the Angelicoussis Shipping Group’s unit Maran Gas Maritime, for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU). The local media which quoted DSME sources saying Tthat the vessel with a 173,400 cubic meter storage capacity is the 100th vessel ordered by the Angelicoussis Shipping Group at DSME since 1994. The FSRU with a length of 295 meters and a width of 46 meters is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2021. According to a report in the Pulse, although the shipbuilder did not disclose the value of the deal, industry watchers estimated it would be worth 230 billion won ($206 million) to 250 billion won.

GTT Receives Order to Equip a New FSRU

GTT has received an order from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) to equip a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) with its NO96 cryogenic membrane containment system.   The vessel will be built at DSME's shipyard in Geoje, Korea, on behalf of Maran Gas Maritime, a Greek management company. This 173,400 m3 vessel will be the first FSRU to be added to the Maran Gas Maritime fleet. Delivery is scheduled for 2020.   The global FSRU market consists of 24 units currently in service. It is a very dynamic segment particularly well suited for new importing countries for which FSRUs constitute an economic alternative and a flexible solution.

Wärtsilä and Maran Gas Maritime (MGM) extend their current cooperation with a five-year maintenance agreement covering the maintenance of MGM's 21 TFDE (tri-fuel diesel electric) LNG carriers that are equipped with Wärtsilä 50DF engines. Maran Gas Maritime Inc. is the LNG shipping unit of the Angelicoussis Shipping Group and one of the major players in the worldwide LNG transportation. The group company operates a fleet of approximately 130 merchant vessels globally with 33 of these being LNG vessels - 21 of which are TFDE.

ME-GI Engines for Maran's New LNG Carriers

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has signed new contracts with Maran Gas Maritime and Maran Tankers Management for the construction of two ME-GI powered LNG carriers and two VLCCs, both shiptypes with a number of options. Maran Gas Maritime has already four ME-GI powered LNG carriers on order at DSME. Maran Gas Maritime is the LNG shipping company of Angelicoussis Shipping Group, Greece’s largest shipowner, and Maran Tankers Management is the tanker arm of Angelicoussis. The Korean shipbuilder announced on June 9 that it won the orders at the international shipping exhibition Posidonia in Greece. The LNG carriers are slated for delivery in 2019 and the VLCCs are due in the first half of 2018.

Tellurian Fixes Maran LNG Carrier

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Tellurian has entered into a six-month time charter contract with Maran Gas Maritime for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker, the Maran Gas Mystras. Tellurian took delivery of the tanker at Galle, Sri Lanka on October 1, 2017. President and CEO Meg Gentle said, "At Tellurian, we are building a global natural gas business and proactively shaping the company to build long term value amid a robust and dynamic market. As winter approaches, we will begin buying and delivering LNG on the Maran Gas Mystras, one of the most efficient vessels in the Maran Gas fleet. Built in 2015, the Maran Gas Mystras is a tri-fuel diesel electric (TFDE) propulsion vessel with 160,000m3 of storage capacity.

DSME Taps GTT to Equip Maran’s New LNG Carriers

GTT said it has received an order from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) to equip two new LNG carriers scheduled for delivery in 2019. The vessels will be built at DSME's shipyard in Geoje, Korea, on behalf of Maran Gas Maritime, a Greek management company, and will be equipped with GTT's NO96 cryogenic membrane containment system. “This order reinforces our long-standing relationship with DSME who has already received 147 ship orders with the NO96 technology,” said Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GTT. “With a fleet of 20 vessels, entirely equipped with membrane solutions, Maran Gas Maritime is a major player of the maritime industry. Globally there are 143 vessels equipped with the NO96, and 59 more are on order.
