US, Singapore Partner to Improve Port Security

A U.S. Coast Guard International Port Security team completed a bilateral engagement with the Republic of Singapore officials in May. This engagement involved sharing best practices and visiting with representatives from the Maritime and Port Authority to observe the implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code at two port facilities in Singapore: Marina Bay Cruise Center and Universal Terminals PTE Ltd. “Everyone has security responsibilities in our global economy,” said Cmdr. Hamburg Süd Christens San Class Containership

Hamburg Süd yesterday christened another containership in its San class, as the official naming ceremony of the newbuild San Clemente was held at the Marina Bay Cruise Center in Singapore, with customers and business partners. The San Clemente is one of Hamburg Süd’s series of three San class newbuilds constructed at the Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan. Adelte Wins Contracts for 8 Boarding Bridges

Adelte, a designer and manufacturer of sophisticated Seaport Passenger Boarding Bridges (SPBBs) for cruise and ferry terminals has recently won eight contracts for the supply in 2014 of a total of eleven tailor-made SPBBs to the ports of Rotterdam, Stornoway, Swinoujscie and Ullapool in Northern Europe, Denia and Savona in Southern Europe and Busan and Singapore in Asia. Adelte has been awarded a contract by the Rotterdam Port Authority to install this summer a new KRONUS SPBB, which will replace the current system.

SATs to Acquire Singapore Cruise Center

SATS announced it has through its subsidiaries, SATS Airport Services and SATS-Creuers Cruise Services (SATS-Creuers), entered into a share purchase agreement to acquire the entire issued share capital of Singapore Cruise Center for S$110 million from Temasek. Singapore Cruise Center is a Singapore-based terminal operator which manages and operates the award-winning international cruise terminal and regional ferry terminal at HarbourFront Center, along with the two ferry terminals at Tanah Merah and Pasir Panjang. It has a strong cash-generative and profitable business, reporting revenue of S$45 million and profit before tax of S$16.7 million for the financial year ended March 31, 2013.

TEAM Ships Three Passenger Boarding Bridges to Hong Kong

Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas Meets Legend of the Seas in Singapore

Royal Caribbean International’s two Asian-based cruise ships Voyager of the Seas and Legend of the Seas both arrived at Marina Bay Cruise Center Singapore in the morning and were berthed side by side for the first time here. Voyager of the Seas, the largest cruise ship based in Asia, was starting on her eight-night cruise to Shanghai while her sister ship Legend of the Seas was leaving for a two-night Malacca weekend cruise as part of her Singapore season. www.royalcaribbean.com
