DMCA's Pact with TRAKHEES

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s maritime sector, has signed a strategic service-level agreement (SLA) with Trakhees, a regulatory arm of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone in Dubai, UAE, for sustainable development of the maritime city. Under the terms of the agreement, Trakhees will process all types of permits and approvals along with ancillary activities for all civil engineering and environment, health and safety activities (non-maritime) carried out by third parties within Dubai Maritime City’s geographical area, said Amer Ali, the executive director of DMCA, after signing the deal with Arif Obaid Al Dehail, the CEO of Trakhees.

Superyacht Marina Planned at San Juan, Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico Ports Authority issues RFP for Marina District. The Puerto Rico Ports Authority (PRPA), a public corporation and government instrumentality of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for the leasing, design, construction, operation and financing of the rehabilitation, improvement and operation of the Isla Grande Dry Dock ("IGDD") in the City of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the design, construction, financing, and development of a superyacht marina complex. The PRPA is seeking comprehensive proposals from highly qualified developers and operators of luxury marinas and vessel maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities.

Dubai Maritime City Progresses

Dubai Maritime City, the world’s first purpose-built maritime centre and part of the Dubai World Group of companies, continues to achieve major development milestones and confidently progresses towards its 2012 completion date. Infrastructure for the Industrial Precinct of the unique maritime development is set to continue significantly during 2009 making it fully operational ahead of schedule with 85 per cent of the work complete. Groundwork for the Commercial Precinct is at 65 per cent, while roadwork is in the final stages.
