It might be easy to blame EALs, but the ongoing causes of stern tube damage are varied, and possibly declining.Environmentally Acceptable lubricants (EALs) gained market traction with the introduction of US VGP regulations in 2013. Since then, DNV has observed two major trends. St. Johns Ship Building Names Joe Rella as President

St. Johns Ship Building announced it has appointed Joe Rella as president, succeeding Jeffery Bukoski, who left the role at the close of 2023.Rella brings over four decades of U.S. Navy and commercial maritime experience to his new position at the Palatka, Fa. shipyard. He was previously president and COO at Austal USA and has held executive roles at International Marine and Industrial Applicators. Rella received his undergraduate degree in marine engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and earned an MBA from Spring Hill College.

Euronav to Buy CMB.TECH for $1.15 Billion

Philippines Coast Guard Orders 80 OXE Marine Diesel Outboards

The Philippines Coast Guard has awarded a contract to OXE Marine’s exclusive distributor in the Philippines, Dynamic Power Marine and Industrial Hardware in partnership with DM8 Composites, to procure 40 high-speed vessels equipped with twin OXE300 outboards. As a result of the awarded contract, Dynamic Power will supply 80 engines to equip the high-speed vessels to support operations all over the Philippines.The vessels will be built by DM8 Composites, a FRP boat builder in the Philippines.

Amogy Increases Series B Round to $150 Million

Brooklyn, N.Y. based startup Amogy on Monday announced it has raised more funds to help it commercialize and begin manufacturing its emissions-free ammonia-to-power technology for marine and industrial applications. Congress recently made a major, if little noticed, new investment in American infrastructure. MAN Wins Order for Battery-Hybrid Dual-Fuel System

The Damen Gorinchem Holland shipyard has ordered a hybrid-propulsion solution from MAN Energy Solutions in connection with the building of 2 × dual-fuel/hybrid RoRo ferries for Canadian outfit, Seaspan Ferries Corporation. The order covers the provision of MAN 35/44DF dual-fuel engines, fuel gas-supply systems and the main electric systems, including batteries.MAN Energy Solutions will provide the solutions in association with Aspin Kemp & Associates (AKA), in which it has a 40% stake.
