MAN Diesel & Turbo, MES Grow Partnership

A new cooperation agreement will intensify existing joint business activities between longstanding partners MAN Diesel & Turbo and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES). The agreement was signed by Takao Tanaka, President & CEO of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding, and Dr. Uwe Lauber, CEO of MAN Diesel & Turbo. “Together, we will offer a solution portfolio that is unique in today’s market,” said Dr. Lauber. Expanding upon multiple previous collaborations, the two companies have now agreed to deepen mutual activities within sales, production, R&D and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) initially, with the potential for other business fields to be added in the future. The common goal is to enhance mutual business opportunities in a more timely and effective fashion.

MAN Diesel & Turbo North America represents its parent company, Germany-based MAN Diesel & Turbo SE, whose roots date back to 1758 and is a leading provider of large-bore diesel engines for marine and stationary applications, and is one of three leading suppliers of turbomachinery. The company designs two-stroke and four-stroke engines that are manufactured both by the company and by its licensees, with power outputs ranging from 450 kW to 87 MW. MAN also designs and manufactures gas turbines, turbochargers, propellers (both controllable and fixed pitch), gas engines and chemical reactors.

MAN Engines to Power Seismic Vessel in Norway

MAN Diesel & Turbo signed a contract on 7 July 2011 in Frederikshavn, Denmark for the supply of 4 × MAN 8L32/40 engines to power a seismic vessel ordered by Sanco Shipping of Norway. The vessel will be built by Kleven Maritime at Myklebust shipyard in southern Norway and is scheduled for delivery by 31 May, 2013. The four-stroke engines will be constructed in Augsburg, headquarters of MAN Diesel & Turbo and a four-stroke engine production site in its own right. MAN B&W Diesel Launches New Engines Series

The MAN B&W Diesel Group is launching a new four-stroke engine onto the market that not only burns both gas and MDO (Marine Diesel Oil), but can also run long-term on pure HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil). This flexibility meets and even exceeds all requirments from the marine as well as the stationary market. The 51/60DF (Dual Fuel) engine is based on the well-known 48/60B range, tried and tested in both marine and stationary applications.
