Perkins Powers New Scottish Ferry Lady of Lismore

MSHS Named FPT's North America Distributor

FPT North America announced an exclusive partnership with marine distributor Motor-Services Hugo Stamp, Inc. (MSHS), an FPT distributor partner since 2005. FPT awarded MSHS the North American territory, which includes all of the U.S., Canada and Mexico. As Master FPT Marine Propulsion Distributor for North America, customers will have direct access to FPT products, factory-trained engineers, and customer support from MSHS offices in Florida, Louisiana, Maine and Seattle, as well as a coast-to-coast dealer network. Danelec Marine Expands in Brazil

Press release - Danelec Marine has announced that it is expanding its presence in Brazil by naming Telnav Telecomuniçacões Navais a Certified Service Center. With nearly 30 years of market experience, Telnav employs a technical staff of 15 engineers and technicians, serving four key Brazilian ports: Rio de Janeiro (its headquarters), Santos, Vitoria and Macaé. Last year, Telnav made over 1,200 service calls, and the company expects this number to grow to 1,500 by the end of 2015. “We are well known in the industry for delivering services in a timely manner. Partnering with Danelec Marine means we can provide even faster and more efficient support for shipowners who operate in Brazil,” said Samuel Mourao, service manager for Telnav.

GE Diesel Engines and Gearboxes for Reinauer ATB

Reinauer Transportation Companies, LLC, purchased two GE U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 certified marine diesel engines and two Lufkin Marine Propulsion Gearboxes for its new articulated tug and barge (ATB), GE Marine announced. The ATB will be built by Senesco Marine and is scheduled to be commissioned in early 2016 to transport petroleum products in U.S. and International coastal waters. Local engine support will be provided by GE Marine’s Distributor, Cummins MidSouth.

Repowered Tug Tows 7 Weeks Nonstop

To ensure its fleet is always prepared for the job, Smith Maritime depends on Laborde Products. Laborde Repowers RO RO Cargo Carriers

The on-time delivery of freight is something businesses depend on to be successful. That's why Laborde Products recently put a second pair of Mitsubishi engines in service in Nassau, Bahamas for the Ro Ro Company. This company carries cargo throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean. The first boat repowered was the 165' KCT, which has a pair of Mitsubishi S6R-Y2MPTK engines rated 630 hp at 1,600 rpm installed. The second vessel, the 190' Vi-Nais, has a pair of S6R2-MPTK2 engines rated 927 hp at 1,400 rpm installed.

McKinney Chooses Mitsubishi

For more than 40 years, McKinney Companies has served the Gulf petroleum and dry cargo industries from its headquarters on the Mississippi River and Intracoastal Waterway. The latest addition to the towing fleet is the shiny new Mac Andrew McKinney. To power the push boat, they turned to Laborde Products to supply an S12A2 Mitsubishi engine rated 940 hp at 1,940 rpm. "We wanted a Tier II diesel engine with hydraulic governor," said Andy McKinney, VP of operations. "We also preferred to avoid the hassle of complex computers and electronics, so we chose a low-maintenance all-mechanical model.

LaBorde Repowers Inland Waterway Pushboat

When it was time to repower one of its commercial vessels, Plant Recovery Company (PRC) turned to Laborde Products. PRC's M/V Victoria is a pushboat used for transporting barges through inland waterways. Laborde installed Mitsubishi S12R-Y1MPTA engines, rated 1,180 hp at 1,600 rpm. It also installed Twin Disc  MG 540 transmissions and new RW Fernstrum grid coolers. "I talked to people that had Mitsubishi engines and they were all happy," said Marc Atkins of PRC. Laborde Increases Sales

Meeting the needs of its customers who demand mechanical engines, Laborde Products continues to gain market share with its Mitsubishi Tier 3 engines. The company has already started taking orders for new construction pushboats to be constructed in late 2012 and 2013, without any signs of slowing down. "We're not surprised by how receptive the commercial marine market has been to these new engines. We listened to our customers, who clearly told us they wanted fully mechanical, Tier 3 engines and that's what we've provided," said Doug Oehrlein, Laborde Products COO.
