Mitsubishi Names New US West Coast Distributor

Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine America (MTEA) has appointed Cascade Engine Center, located in Seattle, as its marine engine division's new West Coast distributor effective August 11, 2020Cascade Engine Center will have responsibility for Alaska, Washington State, Oregon, California and Hawaii.“The addition of the Mitsubishi Heavy Duty engine lineup to Cascade Engine Center will complement our current commercial engine business, allowing us to support most commercial marine applications on the West Coast,” stated Tim A.

Feature: Business Milestone for Vietnam

Vietnam's fledgling shipbuilding industry has raised its international profile by entering into a seminal agreement with the UK's Graig Group for the construction of a series of double-hulled bulk carriers. Cardiff-based Graig's bold move, potentially entailing 15 vessels of the Diamond 53 handymax type, draws on its experience in assigning a similarly extensive program, for 14 examples of the 53,000-dwt design, to Chinese yards. For the industrially-ambitious Vietnamese, who have already made substantial investments in modern shipbuilding equipment and practises, the Graig deal has particular appeal not only for its promise of serial production of one of the most well-considered, future-oriented bulker designs, but also for the broader package which the firm brings to the project.

Obituary: Karl H. Senner

Karl H. Senner, founder of Karl Senner, Inc., passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday, October 19, 2006. Mr. Senner was born in Marienburg, Germany in 1931. He immigrated to the United States in 1952. Mr. Senner was a veteran of the United States Army. After a mechanical apprenticeship, Mr. Senner was hired by Enterprise Engine Company in Oakland, Calif., where he supervised power plant installations. Enterprise Engine Company transferred Mr. Senner to the marine engine division, eventually moving him to the New Orleans area. In 1962 Mr. Senner became a partner in a startup venture company, Green Senner, Inc. which eventually expanded to include a tug company, Green Senner Towing. Green Senner, Inc. became the North American distributor of Reintjes marine transmissions in 1967.
