Briggs Marine Turnover up 6%

Briggs Marine & Environmental Services has published its new accounts for the year ending March 2016 at Companies House, which show an annual increase in turnover to £66m. The company, which supplies a range of services throughout the marine industry, has increased its turnover by £4 million from the previous year, as a result of increased activity in the repair of  subsea cables in the offshore renewable energy industry. Tighter margins in variable markets saw the Group’s operating profits show a slight decrease from £6m in the previous year to £5.4m for the year ending March 2016, with return on capital employed falling from 25% to 23%.

Hendry Marine CEO Aaron Hendry Passes Away

Aaron W. Hendry, husband, father and grandfather, as well as Florida business leader, died today at the age of 80. Aaron passed away peacefully in his home after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Aaron leaves behind his wife Barbara, six children and three grandchildren. “Aaron Hendry was a wonderful businessman, and a giant in the maritime industry,” said Dennis Manelli, ‎General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer at Hendry Marine. “He grew up in the maritime community and had great empathy and loyalty to his employees. Fugro EMU Aims High in Marine Environmental Sector

The merger earlier this year of Fugro's three UK-based environmental service providers to form Fugro EMU made it the largest organisation in the UK. Fugro EMU Limited, the largest commercial marine environmental services organisation in the UK, employs in excess of 220 staff with expertise in oil and gas, renewables, aggregates, ports and harbours, cables and pipelines.
