Daniamant Hails Inclinometer Regulations

Electronic Inclinometer for Tugboat Safety

Danish marine safety equipment manufacturer, Daniamant, has launched a tugboat version of its renowned Electronic Inclinometer, an advanced heel and pitch measuring device. The DanEI-300T fulfils the most recent Bureau Veritas Group’s regulations for escort tugboats and is approved by German BSH to the IMO (International Maritime Organization) performance standard MSC.363(92):2013. Bureau Veritas’ classification rules in the January 2019 edition stipulate that escort tugboats must be equipped with a calibrated heeling angle measurement system, otherwise referred to as an inclinometer.

VIKING, Daemyung Marine Invest in Korea

Marine safety equipment manufacturer and servicing provider VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S is to establish a local presence in Korea through a joint venture agreement with leading Korean marine safety equipment and servicing company Daemyung Marine Co. Ltd. The new joint venture, VIKING Life-Saving Equipment Korea LLC, has VIKING as the majority shareholder. The venture aims to bring faster access for Korean-based and foreign-flag ship managers in the cargo, passenger and offshore segments to the full range of VIKING products and service concepts. It is also the logical next step for a highly successful partnership that has extended over more than 30 years.

VIKING, PVA Join Forces for New USCG Safety Compliancy

Coastal vessel operators trying to come to terms with upgraded US Coast Guard regulations for survival craft have been helped along the way by VIKING at the annual Passenger Vessel Association and U.S. Coast Guard Industry Day in Miami. Marine safety equipment manufacturer and servicing provider VIKING Life-Saving Equipment recently participated in an event at the annual Passenger Vessel Association and U.S. Coast Guard Industry Day in Miami. The company had been invited to the event by John Groundwater, Executive Director of the Passenger Vessel Association (PVA), to provide hands-on support for the upcoming life float replacement task faced by coastal operators in response to new USCG regulations slated to come into force on Feb. 26, 2016.

VIKING's Helpline for New Coastal Safety Rules

With just a few months to go, VIKING has all hands on deck to ensure coastal vessel operators don’t risk their ability to sail under the US Coast Guard’s upgraded coastal vessel safety regulations. Marine safety equipment manufacturer and servicing provider VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S says it’s worried that commercial vessels operating in North American coastal waters and waterways simply won’t be able to sail when new USCG safety regulations come into force on 26 February 2016. Lifejacket Donations to boost Safety in Torres Strait

Marine safety in the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula area is getting a boost with the donation of 1,400 children’s lifejackets as part of the Torres Strait Marine Safety Program (TSMSP) School Based Maritime Safety Education Project. The primary focus of the TSMSP is to improve and promote boating safety in the Torres Strait, which will help reduce the number of search and rescue operations in the area and support the development of the region’s coastal maritime industry. Maritime Safety Queensland Cairns Regional Harbour Master and Chair of the TSMSP Steering Committee, Captain Michael Barnett, said his organisation was proud of the milestone achieved by the TSMSP.

Ocean Safety Inks Rescue Boat Distributor Deal

Ocean Safety, a company in the worldwide supply, distribution, service and hire of marine safety equipment, announced its appointment as sales and service agents for the full range of Narwhal SOLAS approved Rescue Boats. Narwhal models include the SV-420, SV 480, FRB 700 and SV 750 Inflatable RIBs. Their main task is to recover fallen overboard crew members from the sea, even in the most adverse conditions. ISP Unveil Re-designed Lifejackets Range

UK's International Safety Products, manufacturer and supplier of marine safety products, says it launched a redesigned package of lifejackets at the recent Shipbuilding, Maritime and Machinery (SMM) trade show in Germany. The firm's Andy Scott said they unveiled new be-spoke versions of the Challenger Flexi-wing 150N, Challenger Interlock 275N and Challenger Worksafe Pro 170N lifejackets. The lifejackets now have additional design options to provide even greater comfort, particularly for people working across the maritime sector. Mr Scott said many manufacturers are highlighting 275N SOLAS/MED (Safety Of Life At Sea Maritime Equipment Directive) lifejackets as being better for working personnel than 150N SOLAS/MED lifejackets, whereas the opposite is true in many situations.

ISP, Ocean Signal Equip Schooner with Safety Products

UK-based maritime firms, International Safety Products and Ocean Signal, have collaborated to equip Britain’s last remaining three-masted top-sail schooner with essential marine safety equipment. The two firms have supplied lifejackets and an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) to the Kathleen & May. Located in Canning Dock, Liverpool, bystanders will see the ISP and Ocean Signal flags waving high on the vessel’s main mast. It comes during a busy period of activity for the Kathleen & May which is an event location during this year’s International Festival for Business.

ISP Announces Defense Sector Growth

Liverpool marine firm International Safety Products (ISP) is announcing major defense sector growth after securing a deal with the Pakistan Navy. The Bootle business has signed a contract to supply the Asian security force with more than 180 assault troop lifejackets. The specialized life preservers have a low profile and compact design for use in amphibious operations. ISP managing director John Rogers said the firm is witnessing rapid expansion in the defense sector. It follows other recent deals with U.K. Ministry of Defense (MoD) and the Royal Netherlands Navy.

U.K. independent marine safety equipment supplier Ocean Safety was selected by the RNLI to carry out a wide reaching replacement program for all their current liferafts in an operation that will take up to three years. The Ocean Safety ISO liferaft will become the liferaft of choice on every RNLI all weather lifeboat, following a rigorous selection program in which Ocean Safety had to produce innovative solutions to the RNLI’s requirements to exceed their own high safety standards for their fleet of vessels.

Ocean Safety Debuts Exposure Torch Range

U.K. independent marine safety equipment supplier, Ocean Safety, will be showing its range of torches from Exposure Marine at Seawork for the first time. Exposure’s torches are already being used by organizations like the Norwegian Sea Rescue Association (NSRA), proving their fitness for the scrutiny of commercial maritime professionals visiting Seawork. Exposure Marine initially developed torches for the professional mountain bike market, and this led them to produce torches which are incredibly powerful, superlight and corrosion resistant, and therefore ideal for marine conditions.

3M Novec Gas Sea-Fire Extinguishers Debut at Seawork

U.K. independent marine safety equipment supplier Ocean Safety will debut the latest range of fire extinguishers from Sea-Fire at Seawork. The range, which was introduced earlier in the year, is the 3M Novec 1230 NDF and NFG Series. Novec introduces a safer gas which is less harmful than other types of gas if used in enclosed compartments such as small engine rooms. Sea-Fire's pre-engineered NFD and NFG systems are automatically heat-activated, using 3M Novec 1230 Fire Protection Fluid.

Reflex Marine, producer of the industry-leading Frog and Toro personnel carriers and expert in marine personnel transfer, continues to expand its global network of Accredited Service Centres (ASCs) with the launch of its latest Center in Canada. Ocean Safety Signs Contract With SurvitecZodiac

U.K. marine safety equipment supplier, Ocean Safety, has agreed a three year UK service and distribution agreement with SurvitecSAS to supply the full range of SOLAS products including liferafts from 6-151 persons, evacuation systems, slides and rescue boats. The contract confirms Ocean Safety’s long-established relationship with SurvitecZodiac as the largest UK distributor. “This is the logical step for Ocean Safety,” comments Sales Director Mark Hart. “This development further strengthens our close relationship with SurvitecZodiac.
