Ports of Jersey Orders Damen Workboat

King Abdullah Port Bullish on Maritime Services

Specialized Marine Services (SMS), a JV between the Ports Development Company (PDC), which is the private sector owner and developer of King Abdullah Port, and the National Port Services Company, delivered 1,460 maritime services  in 2016. It expects 30% increase expected by the end of 2017. SMS is the primary supplier of marine services, such as marine guidance, in King Abdullah Port. Its team includes highly qualified and skilled maritime guides with vast experience in dealing with the largest international vessels, most of which have visited the King Abdullah Port. All guides hired to work in the marine services department are ambitious Saudi youth who undergo periodic training in accordance with the highest international standards.

Bourbon and CGG Partner for Seismic Survey Success

Announced in June 2011, Bourbon and CGG entered a five-year charter agreement for a series of six custom newbuild seismic support vessels. Now more than two years later, the third ship in the series, Bourbon Gannet, is due to enter service in the early part of 2014, following the launch of the first two vessels, Bourbon Petrel and Bourbon Fulmar, in summer and autumn 2013, respectively. The remaining three sister vessels are under construction in Dubai’s Grandweld Shipyard, also slated for launch in 2014.

IBIA to deliver Enhanced Bunkering Course

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has appointed the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) as one of two bodies to be the training service provider of its Enhanced Bunkering Course for Cargo Officers in Singapore. From 1 July 2012 all new cargo officers will be required to not only be familiar with the requirements of the Singapore Standard on Bunkering (SS 600), but also to have successfully completed the Enhanced Bunkering Course, prior to working independently on board bunker tankers. Existing cargo officers will be required to attend and successfully complete the course by 30 June 2013. The move is part of MPA’s on-going efforts to enhance cargo officers’ professionalism and competency.

Offshore Vessels Enhance Saudi's MMG Capability

Mohammad Al-Mojil Group (MMG) have announced the delivery of three state-of-the-art vessels for its fleet in the Marine Services Department, according to a Saudi Gazette news item. Of the three vessels, two have a length of 54 meters. The third one is a crew vessel which has operational capabilities and a capacity for up to 70 passengers. All the three vessels are now operational and provide marine support services to Saudi Aramco’s floating oil and gas platforms under the five-year contract MMG  signed with the oil company in December 2011.
