Atlantic Wind Transfers Orders Six CTVs

Rhode Island-based offshore wind farm crew transfer vessel company Atlantic Wind Transfers has ordered six crew transfer vessels to be built at St. Johns Ship Building in Palatka, Fla. The first two vessels, of the Chartwell Ambitious-class design, are expected to be delivered in the summer of 2023 and January 2024, with four further builds in the pipeline. V.Group Names Kofod-Olsen as CEO

Ship management and marine support services giant V.Group said on Wednesday it has appointed René Kofod-Olsen as the company’s chief executive officer, taking over from Graham Westgarth who will become chairman. Kofod-Olsen will join V. Group on November 1.Kofod-Olsen brings to the role almost three decades of global shipping industry experience. Europe has been the clear leader in offshore wind power since the world’s first offshore wind farm was built off the coast of Denmark in 1991. Now, as regions in Asia and North America set out to harness the huge energy potential gusting off their shores, local firms are drawing from the expertise laid out in the well-established European industry as they build the foundations for new offshore wind markets of their own.It’s no surprise, then, that designs for offshore wind support vessels currently being built in the U.S. come from the other side of the Atlantic.

V.Group Partners with Ocean Technologies Group

Ship management and marine support services provider V.Group and maritime learning and operational technologies company Ocean Technologies Group have partnered to offer e-learning to V.Group personnel and customers.Starting later this year, V.Group will leverage on Ocean Technologies Group’s digital platforms to provide integrated e-learning solutions to V.Group’s customers. The new solutions will include bespoke V.Group content, technologies in micro-learning, adaptive and gamified learning and virtual reality training developed by Ocean Technologies Group.As part of the cooperative agreement, the Marlins Maritime English assessment product and Marlins global ‘Approved Test Center’ scheme will be transferred to Ocean Technologies Group and become part of its growing list of offerings.

Atlantic Wind Transfers' CTV for Dominion's U.S. Offshore Wind Farm

Quonset Point, Rhode Island-based Atlantic Wind Transfers has secured its second long-term O&M Crew Transfer Vessel contract in the U.S.Under the contract Atlantic Wind Transfers will provide offshore marine support services for the Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbines to be installed for the first offshore wind project in U.S. federal waters. The project is being developed by Richmond, Va.-based Dominion Energy. Atlantic Wind Transfers was selected by Dominion Energy through a competitive bid process.

V.Group to Manage ADNOC's 93 Offshore Vessels

MMT Contract for Stril Explorer

Swedish marine support services company MMT AB has awarded a contract of 18 months to Simon Møkster Shipping for charter of the Stril Explorer.   The Multi Purpose Support Vessel (MPSV) has been on contract to MMT since April 2014 and Møkster is proud to strengthen its relationship with MMT moving forward.    The vessel will be used in various survey related projects by MMT.   Stril Explorer is a DP2 MPSV with a large open deck and is very suitable for launch and recovery operation, for example with ROV´s, ROTV´s AUV and geotechnical equipment.     Stril Explorer has one main ROV hangar, suitable for 2 x WROV, launching through hangar port/stb side doors.   The vessel is on a long term charter agreement  and is equipped with the latest marine survey technology.

Maybulk to Sell its Stake in POSH

Malaysian Bulk Carriers Bhd (Maybulk) plans to sell its entire 21.23% stake in Singapore-listed PACC Offshore Services Holdings Ltd (POSH) to its own shareholders, reported The Star. According to the report, Maybulk seeks to raise cash to pay for new vessels and cut down its debts. It also seeks to raise funds to strengthen its future operations in the dry bulk sector. Maybulk said the proposed disposal will enable the group to focus on its core business activity in the dry bulk sector. POSH is involved in offshore marine support services. Kuok (Singapore) Ltd is its largest shareholder with a 60.3% stake. The stake will be sold to its shareholders via a renounceable restricted offer for sale (ROS) exercise involving up to 386.39 million POSH shares, said a report.

Svitzer Bags FSRU Support Contract in Bangladesh

Svitzer will provide marine support services for the Excelerate Energy FSRU at Bangladesh’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal. Excelerate Energy Bangladesh Limited awarded Svitzer the 15-year contract following a competitive tender process. The contract also includes a five-year option. Bangladesh’s first LNG import terminal, located offshore Moheshkhali Island in the Bay of Bengal, will enable Petrobangla, the state owned energy company, to increase natural gas supply in the country by up to 20 percent, sufficient to support up to 3,000 MW of power generation capacity. The construction of the terminal will commence in the fourth quarter of 2017 and is anticipated to be in service by mid- 2018.

P&O Maritime Rebranded Repasa

P&O Maritime has announced the rebranding of its joint venture company Repasa, the Spanish operator of offshore support vessels for the energy industry. P&O Repasa will become the official brand of the joint venture which has expanded its fleet in the offshore towage market from 8 vessels to 14 in the last year while creating a permanent offshore service hub in Equatorial Guinea in West Africa. P&O Repasa has also won a long-term contract with Marathon Oil in the United States to expand its offshore marine services at the Alba Field, Equatorial Guinea. ISS Inks Service Pact with Technip

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) and Techniphave signed a contract to provide marine agency services and logistics for the Rashid C project in the Middle East. Currently under offshore execution by Technip for Dubai Petroleum Establishment (DPE), ISS will provide a range of services for the Rashid C project including port agency, crew transfer, visa assistance and cargo services. Nakilat to Build 11 Tugs for New Doha Port

Qatar’s New Port Project (NPP) has signed an agreement with Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) to construct 11 workboats for use at the port. HE Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, and HE Mr. Jassim Bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport, witnessed the signing ceremony between NDSQ and NPP, on Wednesday, 17th December 2014. The contracts were signed by Eng. Abdullah Fadhalah Al Sulaiti, Chairman of NDSQ and Managing Director of Nakilat, and Capt. Abdulla Al-Khanji CEO Qatar Ports Management Company & NPP General Supervisor. NDSQ will build four 29m-long Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) tug boats, three 16m-long mooring boats and four15m-long glass reinforced plastic (GRP) pilot boats.
