Dutch marine contractor Boskalis has won a contract to transport and install the monopile foundations and substations for an offshore wind farm development.Boskalis did not say who the client was, nor where the project would be taking place, but said the value was around 450 million euros (around $515 million)."Boskalis’ successful track record in offshore wind energy is founded in Europe and has expanded to Asia in recent years, and more recently to the US East Coast," Boskalis said, adding that its Bokalift 1 and Bokalift 2 crane vessels and versatile heavy transport fleet were ideally suited for large-scale offshore wind projects.

U-Ming's next bulk carrier newbuild being built in China will feature an underwater hull cleaning robot.The Taiwan-headquartered shipping company has signed a commercial agreement with builder Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard (SWS) and Norway's Jotun for the Jotun Hull Skating Solutions (HSS) to be installed aboard one of U-Ming’s four liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual- fuel Tier III 190,000 dwt bulk carriers to be built by SWS in Shanghai to support the long term charter with mining giant Anglo American.

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has secured multiple heavy marine transport services contracts with a combined value of about $120 million.The execution of the majority of projects is scheduled to take place in 2021 and 2022.Following last year’s transportation of a sizable box-shaped FPSO, Boskalis secured a contract to transport a similar FPSO from China to Brazil.With a weight exceeding 91,000 tons this marks another record-breaking transport for the BOKA Vanguard, which is scheduled to commence at the end of 2019.Boskalis also secured a contract for the transportation of various large LNG modules from a fabrication yard in China to Russia.

NYK-Fil Ship Management, the provider of qualified Filipino seafarers to international-going vessels of NYK Line, held a ceremony in Manila to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the company’s establishment and the completion of a renovation of the head office.The NYK Group company said in a press release that The ceremony was attended by Yasumi Kudo, NYK senior adviser; J. Roseburg, Ore.-based North River Boats has, over time, thrived by delivering one of the most diverse vessel portfolios in North America. Those offerings include both domestic and foreign deliveries, as well as recreational, commercial and military hulls. And, if that formula has taught them just one thing, then that metric would be that different customers need different features. And, for a firm known initially for cranking out a well-known brand of nearly identical recreational craft, it has also learned that flexibility in design and offerings can also win the day.

Signet Maritime Corporation announced delivery of its newest vessel, a Robert Allan designed AZ 25/60 Class towing and escort tug, M/V Signet Magic, on July 26, 2013 from Signet Shipbuilding & Repair, Pascagoula, Mississippi. Dubai Ferry’s new October 2012 route, connects the cruise terminal at Port Rashid with Al Ghubaiba station in Bur Dubai. The new route is part of the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) efforts to upgrade the marine transport services. According to RTA, the 100-seater ferries, which until now served on two routes — from Al Ghubaiba to Burj Al Arab and back, from Dubai Marina to Atlantis and back — have grown in popularity since their launch in March last year. The sleek looking boats can travel at a maximum speed of 24 knots and have restrooms, kiosks for selling souvenirs and snacks as well as four LCD screens to provide entertainment facilities on board.

Dockwise Shipping B.V. today set a new record by delivering BP’s 59,500-ton semi-submersible Thunder Horse platform in Corpus Christi, USA. Already on June 19, 2002 Dockwise has been awarded the contract for the sea transportation of the largest semi-submersible PDQ (Production & Drilling Quarters) unit ever built of its kind by DSME in South Korea. The Thunder Horse PDQ is transported on the largest heavy transport vessel of the Dockwise fleet the m.v. Blue Marlin. After a smooth float-on loading operation of the Thunder Horse PDQ, the Blue Marlin has set sail on 23 July for the 15,813 n.m.

Shannon Tugs, a 50/50 joint venture between Cory Towage and Marine Transport Services, has signed a three-year extension to its existing contract with Foynes Port Authority. The company has upgraded its tug fleet to accommodate larger vessels, which are expected to be calling at Foynes. Currently expanding its facilities, the Port of Foynes has just finished a $16.6 million extension to its main jetty, bringing the quay length to 886 ft. (270 m). An additional $3.3 million will be used for dredging and new navigation lights, according to FPA's harbormaster, Captain Senan Histon.
