New Orleans Port to Host Maritime Workforce Summit

Designed to expand awareness of the economic impact of commerce on the Lower Mississippi River and highlight career opportunities and pathways, the Summit will feature an array of speakers from industry and academia, along with a panel discussion on how industry can collaborate with educators to fulfill current and future workforce opportunities. “This Summit is designed to educate community stakeholders of the economic impact of trade, transportation and logistics throughout the region and build a coalition of advocates to help leverage resources to develop a highly-skilled local workforce for the future,” said Gary LaGrange, Port President and CEO. The summit begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Great Hall of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

ACL Appoints New Executives

Bill Braman

American Commercial Lines (ACL) has relocated Bill Braman, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer – Transportation Services, to Harahan, LA, where he will lead the field implementation of ACL’S new operating plan and scheduled service platform. Braman joined the company in February 2009 as Vice President and General Manager – Transportation Services. He will continue to report to the President and CEO. ACL has also made two appointments. ACL Realigns Transportation Services Division

American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLI) announced it is realigning its Transportation Services Division to reduce costs, improve efficiencies, and streamline communication. The company will be moving leaders in operations management to field locations, closer to its employees and customers. Headquartered in Jeffersonville, Ind., ACL operates a fleet of more than 2,600 barges and approximately 130 towboats on a network of more than 12,000 miles of U.S. inland waterways. It also operates terminals, as well as fleeting, shifting, cleaning, and barge and boat repair services throughout its network. The company is realigning its Transportation Services business into two regional divisions.

ACBL Announces Appointments

Paul Brotzge has been named Vice President, Finance, Treasurer and Controller. He was previously Vice President, Finance and Controller. Brotzge has been with the Company for twenty-three years. Ben Huber has been named Vice President, Business Development. His previous position was Vice President, International. He joined ACL in August 2002. David Jahnke has been named Vice President, Dry Cargo Sales. He was previously Vice President, Grain Sales. Jahnke has been with ACL since 1992. Del Wilkins has been named Vice President, Vessel Operations. He was previously Vice President and General Manager, Gulf Coast Operations. Wilkins joined ACBL in November 1993. Paul Book has been named Director of Barge Maintenance. He was previously Director, Audit & Compliance.

American Commercial Barge Line has announced a number of new appointments. ACBL, headquartered in Jeffersonville, In. is an integrated marine transportation and service company. ACL filed for Chapter 11 protection on January 31, 2003. Paul Book has been named Director of Barge Maintenance. He was previously Director, Audit & Compliance. Mark Dougherty has been named Director, Vendor Vetting. He was previously a Quality Analyst. David Miller takes the helm of Director, Marketing Services. He was previously Director, Marketing Support. Mario Munoz has been named Director, Fleets. He was previously Director of Fleet Operations. John Fox has been named Liquid Unit Tow Planner. He was previously West Canal System Planner. Gary Ruff has been named Gulf Tow Planner.
