New CEO Nominated for Royal Van Oord
The Supervisory Board of Van Oord intends to nominate Govert van Oord as the new CEO of Van Oord. The formal appointment will take place at Van Oord's Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on April 11, 2024.The Board is pleased to be able to transfer the leadership of the family business from the 4th to the 5th generation Van Oord family.Govert van Oord has been with Van Oord since 2002 and has worked for the company in the Middle East, Spain and Brazil, among others. He is currently responsible for the Dredging & Infra Business Unit as Managing Director.
Jan De Nul Enters French Offshore Wind Market

BSM: PDVSA Tanker Management Likely Ending
Maritime contractor Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) is considering to stop managing Venezuelan state-oil company PDVSA's tankers by the end of this month or in April following U.S. sanctions against the country, BSM said on Thursday.It also said in a statement that recent political developments made managing assets for the Venezuelan government "an almost impossible task", and it was working on returning Venezuelan vessels to PDVSA's maritime arm PDV Marina and its subsidiaries.The German firm, which operates a fleet of 15 PDVSA vessels and has worked in the Latin American country for almost 25 years, said returning tankers to PDV Marina has proven to be "a difficult task considering the lack of resources" in Venezuela."Nevertheless…

Yanmar Diesel Engines for Fast New Crew Tender
The expansion of the number of wind turbines out at sea near the northern Dutch coast was reason enough for Ubels Offshore to expand its fleet with a fifth ship last year. Operating from the port of Eemshaven, the fast aluminum crew tender Vrijheid III fulfils the strict safety requirements of its clients for the transport of passengers and goods. Henk Ubels Sr is very satisfied with the Yanmar diesel engines, which are proving their reliability day in, day out. Maritime contractor Van Oord is beginning the construction of the Gemini Wind Park this year. A total of 150 wind turbines will be built 85 kilometers off the coast of the province of Groningen, equating to an investment of €2.8 billion.
Boskalis Sells Stake in Middle East Maritime Contractors
Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) has sold its 40% stake in Archirodon Group N.V. Boskalis explain that the possible sale had already been announced in November 2012 after Boskalis was approached by the party in question from the Middle East. The equity interest was partly sold to this party and partly to the existing 60% co-shareholder. Boskalis received a cash sum of USD 190 million for its 40% stake, resulting in a book gain of several tens of millions of euros. The Archirodon activities and results will be deconsolidated with effect from the third quarter 2013.

Some people hate the subways. During rush hours at least, bodies are crushed unwilling and unwelcome into an unwanted intimacy, violating a million years of biological and emotional evolution. People utilize the subways, even appreciate the subways as the fastest way to get around. During non-rush hours, they're even attractive in their utilitarian way, and yes, there are subway fans and enthusiasts - the biggest concentration, perhaps, on the staff of the New York City Transit Authority itself. But to the riding public at rush hour, they're the monument to alienation, to being alone in a crowd, to urban isolation. They're the archetype of doublethink - you imagine you're a free spirit, even in this claustrophobic crush. If existentialists are not born, surely here they are made.
