Energy Searcher Gets Offshore Nigeria Contract
Northern Offshore subsidiary, Northern Offshore International Drilling Company says it has executed a long-term drilling contract with an affiliate of CAMAC Energy Inc. for its drillship 'Energy Searcher'. The contract commits to an initial period of one year, with an option to extend the contact for an additional one-year term. Commencement of drilling activities on the Oyo Field offshore Nigeria is expected during the first half of 2014. The contract value for the first one-year term is just under US$100 million, plus mobilization fees.
Northern Energy Update on Rig Employment
Norway's Northern Offshore, Ltd announce that the last two wells of a 4-well program will not be drilled at the present time. The Joint Operating Company Vietgazprom, a joint venture between Petrovietnam and Gazprom, ("VGP") has given notice that the last two wells will not be drilled at present. The second and final well under the current contract is expected to be completed by late September 2012. However, the Company and VGP are currently in discussion to formally suspend the contract to allow for the drilling of the two remaining wells during 2013…
Operations Halt on West Navion
In connection with minor repair work the derrick of the drillship, West Navion, it has been uncovered cracks in the wire sheaves in the hoisting system of the dual derrick set (Ram Rig). As a result of the findings, operations on West Navion are temporarily halted. It is expected that the halt will last for another 2-3 weeks before operations are resumed. Maritime Hydraulics, the supplier of the dual derrick set, has issued a request to "All users of Maritime Hydraulics' Ram Rigs" to inspect all drilling units equipped with the dual Ram Rig. Consequently, Smedvig will initiate inspection of the drilling rig West Venture, which is also equipped with the Ram Rig derrick set. West Navion is Contracted to Marathon Oil Company Offshore Canada.
Kvaerner Secures $11M Deepwater Project from BP
Kvaerner announced that Aker Kvaerner has been awarded a contract, worth $11 million, to supply advanced drilling and mooring equipment for BP. The advanced deepwater equipment has been developed and will be delivered by Maritime Hydraulics and Maritime Pusnes. The equipment is due for completion and delivery in the first quarter of 2003, and is for a semi-submersible platform which BP is having built for installation on the Thunder Horse oil field.
MH Wins BP Contract
The Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Maritime Hydraulics AS (MH) in Kristiansand, Norway signed a contract with BP for the delivery of another two complete drilling installations for the ACG Phase 2-project in the Caspian Sea. The contract is worth NOK 250-300 million. The contract was won in international competition. Thunder Horse in the Gulf of Mexico and the ACG Phase 1-project in the Caspian Sea. respectively. of training and service follow-up in Baku, Azerbaijan. BP's drilling operations in the Caspian Sea will entail long term agreements that are very appealing to MH.
