Navis Solution on Evergreen Newbuilds

Navis, the provider of maritime software solutions for cargo and vessel performance and compliance,  announced that its MACS3 loading computer will be installed on two newbuilding series of container vessels owned and operated by Taiwan-based Evergreen Marine Corporation.Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation, said that due to the owner’s decision to have this loading computer installed, they are moving to support safer and more effective onboard cargo handling.The newbuildings are currently being built at two different Chinese shipyards. Nautisk, MarineMTS to Provide ENC Auto-Updates

Global maritime software solutions provider Nautisk has announced that it is working with MarineMTS to provide automatic ENC updates to vessels sailing with ECDIS. Marine MTS will provide both the hardware and the protocols needed to access the ECDIS with Nautisk providing the content and software. The new system will be available for the customer’s own ECDIS system and will harmonize with NaviPlanner, Nautisk’s new voyage planning software which will launch later this month at Norshipping. “Our products and services are truly unique, based on a solid foundation of testing and development. DPE is New Majority Shareholder in INTERSCHALT

Deutsche Private Equity GmbH (DPE) is set to become the new majority shareholder in INTERSCHALT maritime systems AG, the maritime software and services provider for navigation and communications equipment for ships as well as manufacturer of a Voyage Data Recorder, with retroactive effect from December 31, 2014. The shipping company Peter Döhle and Gärtner Consulting GmbH will remain the other shareholders of the company. Robert Gärtner will also continue at the helm of the company in his capacity as CEO together with the current management team.

Oceans HQ, Gibraltar Registry, Partner on STCW Requirements

Ship Performance Monitoring: SDARI & NAPA to Collaborate

Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), the leading ship design company in China and NAPA, the global leader in maritime software solutions and services for ship design and operations, have agreed to expand their co-operation to cover ship performance monitoring. The enhanced agreement will extend an existing co-operation that includes the application of NAPA software to SDARI’s ship design processes and NAPA’s Loading Computer, which enhances safe operation and maximisation of a vessel’s cargo carriage capacity. Ship performance monitoring has been added to partnership’s scope in response to a shift in focus in the maritime industry from capital expenditure costs to operating costs, amid sustained high bunker prices.

Oldendorff Opts for BASSnet Fleet Management Systems

Oslo, Norway - BASS Software Ltd, a provider of maritime software solutions, has added another client to its expanding customer base, signing on Oldendorff Carriers, among the world’s leading dry-bulk operators. Oldendorff Carriers currently controls a fleet of some 400 chartered and owned vessels of 26 mio tdw, which carry over 165 mio tdw tons of raw materials and semi-finished products across the world each year. BASS’s contract with Oldendorff Carriers comprises the complete BASSnet software suite of all ten modules, covering Maintenance, Procurement, Dry-docking, Safety, Risk Management, Operations, Crewing, Payroll and services like Database building and conversion.

BASS Wins Hapag-Lloyd Business

BASS Software Ltd, a leading provider of maritime software solutions, has added a top ranking customer to its expanding customer base with the German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd AG choosing its fleet management systems. Hapag-Lloyd, which operates a fleet of more than 145 container ships, selected the BASSnet Fleet Management Systems to be installed initially on 40 vessels. “The signing up of Hapag-Lloyd is an outstanding endorsement of the BASSnet software,” said BASS Regional Manager, Torsten Ecks. conversion. Heikinheimo New President of Napa Group

Juha Heikinheimo (54) was appointed President of Napa Group (Napa Ltd), a leading provider of software solutions for the maritime industry. The appointment takes effect on September 1, 2011. Mr Heikinheimo assumes the position from Matti Salo, who successfully served as President of Napa Group for eleven years. Mr Salo will continue as President of the subsidiary, Onboard-Napa Ltd. He will focus his attention on customers and boosting the growth of the NAPA for Operations business. Heikinheimo has extensive experience of the shipbuilding industry.

PortVision has appointed James Perduto as Director of Transportation and Government Business Development. Based in N.Y., James assumes responsibility for business development for the company's enterprise software solutions and PortVision, a web-based platform that provides visibility and reporting for global commercial AIS vessel tracking activities. A veteran mariner and maritime transportation executive, James has had extensive business development experience in the maritime transportation industry. Most recently, James served as Vice-President of Sales for a maritime software solutions provider and prior to that, as Vice-President of North American Marketing and Customer Service for a large roll-on/roll-off steamship company. Neste Oil Live on Veson Nautical’s IMOS

Veson Nautical, the US-based developer of maritime software solutions and services, announced that Neste Oil Corporation is fully operational on Veson’s Integrated Maritime Operations System (IMOS) to manage its fleet of 30 tankers. Veson’s IMOS is designed to enable Neste’s Shipping Division to operate its large tanker fleet more efficiently and profitably, from the onset of the voyage to the financial tie-out. Neste Shipping transports about 40 million tons of crude oil, oil products and chemicals annually; tonnage consists not only of crude oil, product and chemical tankers but also of two barge / pusher combinations and three tugboats. The operations are concentrated mainly on the Baltic, the North Sea and the North Atlantic region.
