Caledonian Maritime Assets Buys Three Ferries

A deal has been agreed for the three passenger ferries serving the Northern Isles to be purchased outright by Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) with loan funding from the Scottish Government. The MV Hamnavoe, MV Hrossey and MV Hjaltland, which have previously been leased from Royal Bank of Scotland, will be taken into CMAL ownership. An 18 month extension to the current Northern Isles Ferry Services contract has also been agreed to allow further progress to be made with the ongoing review of procurement policy. Transas Upgrades Simulator Complex in Batumi

On November 27, 2014, President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili and President of Latvia Andris Berzins visited Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) opened the renovated simulation center. The Full Mission Offshore simulator, which has become the extension of the existing simulation complex, has been developed and installed by the Transas Marine. The full mission Transas offshore simulator with 270 degrees visualization is based on the Transas NTPRO 5000 software and will be used for training in dynamic positioning operations.

Transas Offshore Simulator for Batumi State Maritime Academy

Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) and Transas Marine Black Sea today signed a contract for supply and installation of the Transas Full Mission Offshore simulator. The simulator complex will be one of the most advanced in the Black Sea region. The full mission Transas offshore simulator with 270 degrees visualisation is based on the Transas NTPRO 5000 software and will be used for training in dynamic positioning operations. The simulator will enable training of crews involved in transfer and supply of mobile offshore units. Training course will be accredited by the Nautical Institute. Specially for the project, Transas will develop simulator areas for three ports of Georgia: Batumi, Poti and Kulevi. In addition, the simulator will use the next generation universal hardware solutions.

Batumi State Maritime Academy Upgrades its Simulator Complex

Batumi, Georgia. Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) upgraded its training facility with the latest simulators from Transas. The main goals of establishing this advanced training facility is to educate qualified specialists who will join the maritime commercial fleet and maritime transport infrastructure; and provide a learning process that adheres to modern requirements and educational programs, which will help students to receive the knowledge and professional skills necessary for their profession. The project included installation of a full mission engine room simulator ERS 5000 that simulates MAN B&W 6S50MC-C Diesel Engine Product Tanker Ship Model. The system is integrated with existing navigational simulator NTPRO 5000 and provides for joint training of engine room and bridge teams.

Batumi, in the Autonomous Repuplic of Georgia, upgrades simulators at its nautical training facility. The project included installation of a full mission engine room simulator ERS 5000 that simulates MAN B&W 6S50MC-C Diesel Engine Product Tanker Ship Model. The system is integrated with existing navigational simulator NTPRO 5000 and provides for joint training of engine room and bridge teams. The simulator replicates the operation of product tanker machinery, bridge and power systems which will enable BSMA to train marine technicians in realistic situations, without risk to people or vessels.
