Harris Pye Sold to Joulon Group

The Harris Pye Engineering Group, global specialists in the provision of repairs, upgrades and conversions to the marine, offshore oil and gas, and associated onshore industrial sectors, has been acquired by the Joulon Group. Joulon was created in partnership with KKR, the global investment firm to acquire well established companies globally. The investment in Joulon comes from multiple funds managed or advised by KKR. Harris Pye has been acquired to primarily add capability in the Project Management Platform for the Joulon Group and will also have an impact in the majority of the Joulon platforms. “We are really excited to have Harris Pye as part of Joulon Group. “This is very much a win:win situation,” explained Mark Prendergast, Harris Pye’s Chief Executive.

Harris Pye Opens New Office in Dubai

Harris Pye marked another milestone in their bid for further global expansion last week with the opening of their brand new company in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This company was established to centralize engineering teams to support global business dealings with regard to offshore. Mark Prendergast Group Managing Director commented, "This office is specifically set for a purpose - the oil and gas market sector." With the management's sights set on expansion within the offshore market the new branch opening should allow for some fierce competition. Dubai was selected from a shortlist as it presented Harris Pye with an exceptional level of resources and skill sets by experienced personnel.

Harris Pye Takes on More Offshore Projects

Global maritime and offshore oil and gas engineering company Harris Pye is making significant gains in the offshore oil and gas market, according to Group Managing Director Mark Prendergast. “We are currently undertaking three major rig renovations simultaneously in the UK, Singapore and Brazil,” said Prendergast. In January, the company completed a comprehensive refit and refurbishment of Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc’s (DODI) drillship, The Ocean Clipper. All works were completed in just 90 days. The scale of the project was immense and included electrical works, accommodation, painting, cranes, 250 tons of steelwork, over two miles of piping renewals, and the removal and replacement of transformers and motors.

Harris Pye Group: No Swansea Dry Docks License

The news that the Harris Pye Group has failed in its attempt to renew the necessary license to develop and expand the Swansea Dry Docks for use for refurbishment and repair of a wide range of types and sizes of vessels has disappointed the Barry-based group, who had plans for the regeneration of the area and for an increase in employment opportunities. “We are naturally extremely disappointed not only for ourselves, but for a potential workforce of up to two hundred people and 50/60 trainees per year who would have graduated from our Training School. We also rue the missed opportunity for those who would have helped establish the thriving supply chain that would inevitably have sprung up in support of our actions,” said Mark Prendergast, Managing Director of the Harris Pye Group.

Swansea Dry Docks Open for Business

Harris PYE Assists in Saga Pearl II Refit

Saga's newly acquired cruise ship, currently called the Astoria and to be transformed into Saga Pearl II, the latest addition to their fleet, is to undergo her refit and total refurbishment in Swansea Dry Docks, Wales. The Harris Pye Group, based in Barry in Wales, has won two major contracts connected to the work on the vessel being undertaken over the course of the next five months. The first contract won by Harris Pye Group for a cruise vessel in South Wales is for the provision of the dry dock, and dry dock services which include the complete overhaul of the main engines, auxiliary engines, boilers, HVAC systems, electrical and automation as well as a large quantity of steel and pipeworks…
