HII Appoints Brenton as Corporate Director
Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced today that Capt. Kevin Brenton (U.S. Navy, Ret.) has joined the company as corporate director of customer affairs for submarine programs. Brenton served most recently as deputy director of the Navy's Strategic Systems Programs, overseeing strategic weapons systems. He began his new position on Monday. "Kevin brings a wealth of leadership and maritime experience to our company, and he is going to be an excellent fit for our team," said Marty Chanik, HII's corporate vice president, customer affairs for Newport News Shipbuilding.
Northrop Grumman Appoints Chanik
Northrop Grumman has appointed Evan 'Marty' Chanik to vice president of business development for its shipbuilding sector. In his new role, Chanik will be responsible for all marketing, customer and government relations initiatives, reporting to Mike Petters, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman's Shipbuilding. Second Fleet Takes Final Step Toward JTF Certification
Commander, U.S. 2nd Fleet begins the final step in its certification as a joint task force (JTF) headquarters Aug. 29, with the start of exercise Fuerzas Aliadas (FA) PANAMAX 2007. The multinational exercise will serve as the culminating exercise for 2nd Fleet's certification by U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM). Multinational FA PANAMAX 2007 Begins

The U.S. Navy and participating nations have deployed 30 vessels, a dozen aircraft and more than 7,000 personnel in cooperation with Panama, which maintains the historic canal as a neutral waterway that is crucial to global maritime commerce and peace and prosperity in the region. “This year’s PANAMAX is a truly amazing exercise,” said Brig.
