The physicist Max Planck (actually born as Marx Planck) is best known for the development of his universal constant that defines physics at the most basic level. It is an important number, and today it even defines the kilogram and therefore most engineering units. Regardless, in my daily life I have little use for it.Max Planks is less known for his Principle, which, to me, is much more useful and I encounter it almost on a daily basis. Iran Navy Repels Pirate Attacks

Iran’s 33rd naval fleet has foiled pirate attacks on two Iranian tankers during the first days of its presence in the open waters and the Gulf of Aden. The timely presence and action of the Iranian Navy’s 33rd Flotilla thwarted the attack by pirate speed boats, equipped with various weapons, on an Iranian oil tanker in the waters of the Gulf of Aden three days ago, forcing the pirates to flee the scene. Five pirate speedboats had approached the Iranian tankers and were about to launch an assault on them. Cadmium-free Anodes Help Satisfy 2013 VGP

By December 19, the Environmental Protection Agency expects vessel owners and operators with craft included under the Vessel General (VGP), to comply with regulations regarding discharges. VGP directives cover non-military commercial vessels longer than 79'. VGP requirements for cathodic protection can be easily met with environmentally-friendly Martyr brand cadmium-free aluminum and magnesium anodes from Canada Metal (Pacific) Ltd. Provisions in the 2013 VGP seek to protect U.S. water quality and inhibit the spread of invasive marine species.
