Rochester Harbor Pier Repair Contract Awarded

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District awarded a $3.85 million contract to Illinois-based Great Lakes Dock and Materials, L.L.C. on March 31 for repairs to the Rochester Harbor East Pier in Rochester, N.Y.Repairs will ensure the pier, along with its adjacent federal navigation channel, continue to provide safe passage and refuge for commercial and recreational vessels between the Genesee River, Lake Ontario and the rest of the Great Lakes.“The Port of Rochester…

Great Lakes Dock and Materials LLC, Muskegon, Mich., has been awarded a firm-fixed-price, non-option eligible, non-multi-year US ACE contract for $7,461,751 for the repair of 0.5 miles of breakwater at Cleveland Harbor. FLIR Systems Inc., Billerica, Mass., has been awarded a $49,852,526 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract on Sept. 19, 2013, for the Patrol Boat Electro-Optics System (PB-EOS) for the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Navy. Ingram to sell its Materials Unit

Ingram Industries Inc. of Nashville, Tennessee, and Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel Co. of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, announced today they have entered into an agreement for Ingram to sell its Ingram Materials LLC subsidiary to Pine Bluff. Ingram Materials is one of the nation’s premier producers of fine aggregate used by the construction industry for concrete, asphalt and masonry projects in Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky and Northern Alabama. Ingram Materials operates three sand dredges on the Ohio River in Paducah, Kentucky, and has distribution facilities in Nashville, Clarksville and New Johnsonville, Tennessee; Paducah, Kentucky; and Decatur and Florence, Alabama. The Ingram Materials business was first established in 1927 by other owners who called it the Ohio River Sand Company.

USACE Contract for Ontonagon Harbor Dredging

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, has awarded a dredging contract for Ontonagon Harbor on Lake Superior in the western Upper Peninsula. The $328,350 contract was awarded to Great Lakes Dock & Materials, LLC, of Muskegon, Mich. It calls for dredging 50,000 cubic yards of shoal material, which will be deposited on the lakeshore as beach nourishment. Work is scheduled to begin in early June and wrap up in July.

70 Shipyards Awarded ARRA Grants

The Department of Transportation has announced 70 grants totaling $98m in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds that will be used to improve small shipyards throughout the United States. The funds, awarded through the Maritime Administration’s Assistance to Small Shipyards program, will help create and preserve jobs, provide valuable employment training and make much needed improvements to shipyards across the country. The Small Shipyards Grant program provides up to 75 percent in ARRA funds for a project and requires the remainder be matched by the shipyard. A detailed list of the grantees is as follows. •    Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, Inc.,  Philadelphia, PA: $2,312,614, for the first year of training program.
