DNV GL Rolls-out Digital Hub in Singapore

DNV GL has launched a digital hub in Singapore as part of the transformation of the oil and gas, maritime and energy industries toward digitalization, including increased cyber security and smart infrastructure.The new Singapore hub is called Digital Consulting and Smart Cities, and will include three teams covering smart cities, cyber security and digital development – including support for DNV GL’s open industry platform Veracity.The digital hub, part of DNV GL – Digital Solutions, is set up to work closely with local and regional authorities and industry players to improve the performance of assets and infrastructure and to increase…

DNV GL, Goldwind in Wind Power Pact

Goldwind International and DNV GL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for optimizing offshore and onshore wind projects. DNV GL to be preferred independent third-party advisor for performance optimization of offshore and onshore wind projects. DNV GL, the world’s largest resource of independent energy experts and certification body,  said in a statement that it has signed MoU with Goldwind International during the Norway-China Partnership for Low Carbon Energy Transition seminar organized by the Beijing Energy Club. The MoU was signed by Mathias Steck, ‎Executive Vice President Asia Pacific, DNV GL – Energy and  Wang Hai, Deputy General Manager, Goldwind International. The signing was also witnessed by the Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Terje Søviknes.

DNV GL Offshore Wind Standard for China

DNV GL is part of the consortium selected by the World Bank to support the development of 3 new standards in offshore wind turbine support structures, offshore substations, offshore wind farm power cables. DNV GL will also be advising the Chinese government on project financing and risk management as part of this project. “Offshore Wind is a very demanding technology. Standards are crucial to minimize the risks to acceptable and bankable levels, and learning from the international experience as this mandate is supporting, is a great approach to accelerate a successful industry,” said Mathias Steck, ‎Executive Vice President for DNV GL’s Energy business in APAC.

India’s Potential in Offshore Wind Power

The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) launched a new report: “Supply Chain, Port Infrastructure and Logistics Study” for offshore wind development in the states of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu in India. This study is a significant step forward in preparing a roadmap for offshore wind power in India by the GWEC led FOWIND consortium. The key supply chain elements of the offshore wind sector are assessed along with a preliminary evaluation of companies entering the offshore wind sector. As part of the supply chain assessment, port infrastructure and logistics are reviewed, identifying key component specifications, vessel requirements and installation strategies.

GL Garrad Hassan Announces New Country Manager

Mr Dilip Kumar will take up the role of Country Manager for GL Garrad Hassan in India. India is the world's third largest market for wind, with annual installations doubling over the last several years. The reintroduction of a government subsidy wind farms and low coast loans for clean energy production should help to ensure that India's importance continues to grow as a center for the design, development and manufacture of wind turbines. Mathias Steck, Asia-Pacific Vice President for GL Garrad Hassan, announced the appointment, saying "Mr Kumar's breadth and diversity of experience will be invaluable to GL Garrad Hassan in helping our customers in dealing with the wide range of projects and geographical diversity they face.

Taiwan Offshore Wind Farm Research Project

GL Garrad Hassan signs MOU with Taiwanese Industrial Technology Research Institute to develop Taiwan's offshore energy strategy. The offshore wind resource around the Taiwanese coast is considered excellent, with more than 6,000MW potential capacity at water depths of less than 50m. Earlier this year the Taiwanese government announced an extensive plan to speed up the deployment of offshore wind farm and promote green energy economics. Beginning with a demonstration project in 2015, offshore installation is planned to ramp up over the coming years and reach 1000 turbines and 3000MW by 2030.

GL Garrad Hassan has appointed Mr Rajsekhar Budhavarapu as the new Country Manager of GL Garrad Hassan India. Mr Budhavarapu will be based in Bangalore, India and will develop local services and support for designers, manufacturers, developers and investors of renewable energy projects. Budhavarapu has 19 years of experience providing technical, operational and strategic leadership for the renewable energy industry.
