Hendry Marine Adds New Drydock

Hendry Marine Industries, Inc. (HMI) (along with its affiliated companies Gulf Marine Repair Corporation, Universal Environmental Solutions, LLC, and Anchor Sandblasting and Coatings, LLC) offers a broad range of maritime services in Port Tampa Bay, including commercial and government ship repair, steel fabrication, gas-freeing, tank cleaning, slop services, lead and asbestos abatement, brokered waste and blasting and coating. The Hendry family entered the maritime business in 1926 when Captain F.M. Hendry started a construction aggregate business and then later a dredging business.

Harvey Gulf ATB Earns ABS, USCG Approvals

Harvey Gulf International Marine (HGIM) announced it has received both ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) class functional approval and USCG (United States Coast Guard) design bases approval on a 4,000 cubic meter LNG articulating tug barge (ATB) construction drawing package; the design accounts for ship-to-ship transfer and shore side resupply transfers. Parana River Obstructed by Grounded Vessel

The navigation channel at km 287 of the Parana River is obstructed after a bulk vessel went aground on the right margin during the early hours of 13 May during her navigation to San Nicolas. The Coast Guard has allowed navigation for vessels with max draft of 7.40m only through the secondary channel. First B.Delta68 SUL Bulker Ordered

Deltamarin reported that its B.Delta family has scored further success as the Vulica Shipping Co. Ltd ordered the first ever B.Delta68 SUL (Self-Unloading) vessels. The order for the two bulk carriers was placed with the Chinese Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. Deltamarin’s design contract with Hantong shipyard covers approval design (basic and detail), procurement handling and site assistance. The contract value is about €3 millioin, and the estimated contract period is 10 months. Delivery of the vessels is planned to take place before July 2017. According to the designer, the B.Delta68 SUL is a Panamax sized self-unloading bulk carrier featuring a state of the art, fuel efficient and environmental friendly design.

Sinopacific Shipbuilding Win Order to Construct 4 SPA60 vessels

Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group (SINOPACIFIC) has recently signed a contract with Singaporean company Vallianz Holdings Limited (Vallianz) for the construction of 4 SPA60 vessels. The vessels will be built in SINOPACIFIC’s Zhejiang Shipyard and all of them are expected to be delivered from the end of 2014 to the beginning of 2015. It is the first order SINOPACIFIC has gained from the Southeast Asian market for its in-house “SP-design”, which is a testimony to the steadily increasing reputation of the “SP-designed” vessel in the industry. SINOPACIFIC is currently one of the few Chinese shipbuilding enterprises that have independent design capabilities from conceptual design through to production.

Damen PSV 3300: A Diamond in the Rough

The platform supply vessel World Diamond was delivered by Damen Shipyards, Galati, on June 28, 2013, to World Wide Supply. The PSV was built to a completely new and distinctive design from Damen, and World Diamond is the first of six PSVs for the Norwegian owner. The vessel is capable of worldwide operations and its construction involved close cooperation with Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, The Netherlands, which provided engineering and main equipment. Bay State Cruise Receives 30-meter Passenger Ferry

Incat Crowther announced the launch and delivery of the 30-meter catamaran passenger ferry, Provincetown IV to Bay State Cruise Company of Boston, Massachusetts. Gladding Hearn Shipbuilding of Massachusetts delivered the earlier vessel Provincetown III in 2004, and she has been operating for nearly a decade. When the operator planned an expansion in services, they asked that Provincetown IV bedeveloped based on the original design with an updated propulsion package for improved performance and efficiency.

RoCon Design from Knud E. Hansen A/S

French operator Compagnie Maritime Nantaise (CMN) signed a contract with Hyundai MIPO, South Korea for two new RoCon vessels with an option for a third unit. Knud E. Hansen A/S has worked closely with CMN over the past year to develop the design. A number of design options were studied taking into due consideration the operational requirements of CMN and physical constraints in the operating areas including size limitations, limited port facilities, etc. The main deck is loaded via a stern and a quarter ramp.

Mid America Shipyard Delivers Another Truckable Tug

Mid America Shipyards LLC, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, has just delivered another of its truckable tug boats. The vessel has been shipped to a project in up-state New York. This tug boat was constructed in 30 working days which was done in half the time of our last tugs. The J-KRAB is the Seventh Vessel to leave our yard this year so far.
