Exmar Pens LNG Carrier Deal with Eni. Closes Tango FLNG Sale

Belgian shipowner Exmar said on Friday it had signed a 10-year charter deal for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessel Excalibur with Eni as the Belgian shipowner closes the sale of its Tango LNG barge to the Italian energy group.The squeeze on oil and gas imports from Russia, following what Moscow calls "a special military operation" in Ukraine, has left Western powers scrambling to plug the energy gap, pushing them to expand LNG capacity.Exmar, which had been struggling to find a user to charter one of its giant LNG ships, said in August it had agreed to sell its Tango LNG floating liquefaction facility to Italy's Eni for 572 million to 694 million dollars.The group said in an earnings report that it had recently signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Excalibur…

Overmarine Delivers Third MO43

Family-run shipyard Overmarine has delivered Mangusta Oceano 43, the third 43-meter yacht in the Mangusta Oceano series of displacement vessels, previously known as “Project Firenze” to its owner.The official ceremony was held on Overmarine Group’s private quay following the successful completion of the tests and sea trials, held in the rough winter seas.The 43 metre, three decked yacht, which has been designed by Alberto Mancini, is built from steel and aluminium. Volvo Ocean Race Legends Gather

The Volvo Ocean Race will celebrate 45 years of history with a Legends Race on the final leg of the 2017-18 edition from Gothenburg to The Hague, says a press statement. Any yacht to have featured in the Whitbread Round the World Race or Volvo Ocean Race, dating back to 1973-74, will be welcome to join the 2018 Legends Race. The race will be run over the same course, and around the same time, as the closing leg of the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18, which starts from Gothenburg on 21 June. PEMEX Invests in Nine Voith Water Tractors

Mexico’s state-owned petroleum company PEMEX (Petróleos Mexicanos) invests in a modern tug fleet. Voith was awarded to supply the propulsion for nine new Voith Water Tractors (VWT) which are to enhance the safety of oil tankers entering and clearing port at several terminals as of 2016. During an extensive selection process, the vessels powered by two Voith Schneider Propellers (VSP) stood out with regard to their low susceptibility to debris. This year's fleet for the 68th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in December reaches 60 already. 'Wild Oats Xl' the boat to beat. The boat to beat for line honours this year will be Bob Oatley‘s super maxi Wild Oats XI, skippered by Mark Richards. LINCS Offshore Wind Farm Cable Installed

Centrica Renewables Energy has confirmed that Global Marine Energy., the independent provider of subsea power cable installation, maintenance and related engineering services worldwide, has successfully completed its portion of the cable landing and near shore cable works related to the export cable at the LINCS Offshore wind farm. Global Marine Energy installed the approximately 8km of 132 kV subsea power cable utilising the cable barge Nautilus Maxi which had been modified to meet the unique requirements of the project. The LINCS offshore wind farm is located off the east coast of the United Kingdom is a joint venture between Centrica (50%) DONG Energy and Siemens Project Ventures.

The membership grade of Fellow is accorded to individuals who have contributed to significant achievements in naval architecture, marine and ocean engineering, and related fields in the form of advances in design, research, production, operation, education, and associated management. G. Russell Bowler: As the Chief Engineer/Vice President of the largest and most successful sailing yacht design company in America, Russell has served as the lead naval architect in numerous groundbreaking designs. Mr. Bowler introduced modern composite construction to the Round the World Race of 1985/86 with the outstanding success of the maxi-yacht UBS Switzerland.

MOBY Acquires Vessel DFDS

An agreement for the acquisition of a new unit has been defined today between Moby Spa and the Danish company DFDS, one of the leading European maritime operators. The ship, called “Prince of Scandinavia”, will be named Moby Drea and will operate on the Livorno-Olbia-Livorno itinerary. Moby Drea, that will join the 15 units of Moby fleet, will arrive in Italy mid December to undergo a complete technical and structural refit and will already start operating end of May 2004. With a speed of 24 knots, a capacity of 1.800 pax and 450 car places, it is equipped with 400 cabins, 300 seats, restaurant, self service, piano bar, cafeteria, pizzeria, pool, solarium and Happy Moby, an area equipped with maxi-screen, games and video-games specifically dedicated to children and teenagers.

Uljanik Delivers for Grimaldi-Napoli

On May 15 Uljanik Shipyards in Pula will deliver Grande Lagos, built on behalf of Grimaldi-Napoli. The ship will be launched by Mrs. Aldi C. Sekibo, the consort of the Minister of Transports of Nigeria. Grande Lagos is the seventh ship, following up a maxi-order of 11 ships, that was built by the Croatian shipyards Ulajnik in Pula for the Grimaldi – Napoli group. In three years the Uljanik shipyard launched and delivered to the Grimaldi – Napoli group Grande Benelux, and Grande Italia in 2001; Grande Spagna and Grande Portogallo in 2002; Grande Roma and Grande Napoli in 2003.

The Grande Anversa Delivered to Grimaldi Group Naples

Ceremony of delivery, this morning, at the Uljanik Shipyards of Pola, of the vessel‘’Grande Anversa’’, built for Grimaldi Group Naples. Godmother of the vessel: Mrs Camille Delwaide, wife of the President of the Antwerp Port Authority, Baron Leo Delwaide. The choice to name the vessel after the city of Antwerp is an act of gratitude towards a city and a port representing Grimaldi Group Naples a hub for its traffic flows between North Europe, North and South America, West Africa and the Mediterranean.

650 Ton Crane for Naples Port

In order to avoid traffic problems Naples port's new maxi-crane arrived by night. The new crane destined for Cantieri del Mediterraneo Spa can lift 650 tons on an arm which can be adjusted from 60 metres to 96 metres. The crane is semi-mobile on 22 enormous wheels and cost euro 2,8 million. There are only two such cranes in Italy. Luigi Salvatori head of Cantieri del Mediterraneo stated " the Port Authority is increasingly attentive towards Naples' ship yards. We with the practicality which we have always demonstrated are playing our part. We planned investment of euro 23 million for modernisation and in the past 5 years we have spent euro 8.8 million with a further euro 7.5 million in progress ". For example ? " we have 4 dry docks, three structures and one floating.

Concordia Leads Tanker Innovation

Concordia Maritime of the Stena Group has again taken the industry lead announcing firm contracts for four (with two options) for an innovative new series of 49,900 dwt tankers dubbed P-MAX. Croatia’s Brodosplit Shipyard was tapped for the job, with delivery of the first ship scheduled for 2005.. The P-MAX is an extension of the creative Stena MAX concept, which was the development of an advanced class of tankers with features to ensure safe operation in the world’s most sensitive waters. The 600- x 131-ft. (183- x 40-m) P-MAX ships are designed to have lower draft and higher speed than traditional, modern products tankers, and will offer 70,000 cu. m. of cargo capacity, almost 30 percent more than the 55,000 cu. m. of today’s largest MR vessels.

Newport Shipyard is expanding its management team in order to handle an influx of new work. Mark Mutty, with over 28 years in the boating industry and well versed in both yacht and commercial applications of yacht repair and maintenance, is the Yard Manager for the Shipyard. He was previously Facilities/Yard Manager for Hinckley Yacht Services (formerly Little Harbor Marine) and for Newport Offshore Ltd. Ann Souder, the Director of Marketing, has been a consultant on marketing and promotions to the super yacht industry. She has over 25 years experience in marketing both in the United States and Europe. In addition to her marketing responsibilities, she will coordinate the various special events that take place at the Shipyard. Captain Tom Donovan is the Commercial Projects Manager.

Mark has been involved in three America's Cup Campaigns. Ann Souder, the Director of Marketing, has been a consultant on marketing and promotions to the super yacht industry.
