HOSTAR Moves WWII PT Boat

PT-728, one of the few remaining examples of the torpedo-armed fast attack craft that helped America win WWII, is no ordinary boat. To help move the vessel carefully, HOSTAR Marine used a hydraulic yard trailer. Portraying various sister boats, PT-728 has played a starring role in numerous movies and documentaries, most famously as PT-73 in the television show McHale's Navy. She is the only U.S. Coast Guard-inspected PT boat licensed to take passengers for hire. Currently undergoing restoration at the Liberty Aircraft Museum in Port Clinton…

Ingalls Shipbuilder Honored for STEM Achievements

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced that Ivette Nunez, a systems engineer at the company's Ingalls Shipbuilding division, was honored by the Great Minds in STEM organization at the annual Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corp. (HENAAC) conference in New Orleans. Nunez received a "Professional Achievement -- Level I" award, which honors science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) professionals with 10-19 years of experience who have made significant contributions in their fields.

Keynote Announced for Maritime Domain Awareness Day

The U.S. Coast Guard said that Paul McHale, assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense and America’s security affairs, will deliver the Oct. 29 keynote address at the Maritime Domain Awareness Day event in New Orleans as part of the 2007 Coast Guard Innovation Expo. Other speakers include the Navy’s senior director for intelligence and the directors of global maritime intelligence integration and global maritime situational awareness and the Coast Guard’s director of maritime domain awareness and project manager for the automatic identification system. Representatives from the Naval Research Lab, the Maritime Administration, and Naval Forces Europe will also make presentations.
