SCHOTTEL to Equip Med Marine's Six New ASD Tugs

SCHOTTEL is to equip six new ASD tugs of the Turkish Med Marine Group with the SCHOTTEL RudderPropeller (SRP). The new vessels will be built by Med Marine’s Ereğli Shipyard and will be available in 2025 to meet the constantly growing demand for Med Marine tugs. Kongsberg to Supply Winches for 16 Tugs

Kongsberg Maritime said it has signed a contract with Turkish tugboat builder Med Marine to deliver heavy duty, Escort Series towing winches for nine escort tugs equipped with azimuth stern drives (ASD).The order follows on from a contract signed earlier this year to supply winches for seven tugs.The new agreement brings the total number of Kongsberg’s winch supply contracts for Med Marine to 16 shipsets.

Kongsberg Maritime’s US Series thrusters will be installed on 16 new ASD tugboats to be built in Turkey by Med Marine ShipyardKongsberg Maritime (KM) reports that it has signed "a sizeable contract" with Med Marine in Turkey to deliver 32 US series thrusters for installation on new Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) tugboats.KM’s US series thrusters now offer project-specific Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling capabilities, while the range of achievable propeller and nozzle combinations ensures the highest possible standards of operational efficiency.

Shipbuilding: Med Marine Tapped to Build Buoy Tender for Port Qasim

Earlier this year Med Marine signed a contract with the Port Qasim Authority of Pakistan (PQA) for the delivery of a Conventional Twin Screw Buoy Tender Vessel, MED-B4500, for buoy-laying in the port located in the city of Karachi. Svitzer to Deploy Two More Tugs in the Suez Canal

Maersk's towage arm Svitzer announced another extension of its current contract with the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) to include two additional tugs to service the vital trade artery.Turkish tugboat builder Med Marine will deliver the two new vessels, both RAstar 2800 75tonnes bollard pull tugs with firefighting capabilities and escort notation, designed by Robert Allan Ltd.Svitzer started operating in the Suez Canal in late 2019 with the two tugs Svitzer Port Said 1 and Svitzer Port Said 2, providing towage services to the SCA out of Port Said.

Med Marine Builds New Tug for Israeli Coal Company

A new 32-meter ASD tug was has been built and delivered from Med Marine’s Eregli shipyard in Turkey for The National Coal Supply Corporation of Israel.The newbuild Hadera is named after the port in which it will operate. It is a RAmparts 3200-SD ASD tug with escort notation and firefighting capabilities. It is the third tug designed by Canadian naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd. for operations in Israel. According to the designer, Hadera has a large deadweight capacity, a shallow full load navigational draft of 4.81 meters, and high standard noise control.

Svitzer Orders Tug from Med Marine

Turkish shipbuilder Med Marine said it has won repeat business from Maersk's towage arm, securing an order to deliver a new 23-meter tug for Svitzer’s German fleet.The contract signed last week for a MED-A2360 series tug follows a deal inked in September 2019 for two 30-meter icebreaking tugs for the Danish operator's Scandinavian operations. The newly ordered vessel (hull name ER80) will have 60-ton bollard pull and is set for November 2020.The MED-A2360 series tug is based on Robert Allan’s RAmparts 2300-MM designed exclusively for Med Marine by the Canadian vessel designer.

Med Marine to Build Tug for Port of Mombasa

Global towage operator Svitzer said it has signed a new deal with Turkish shipbuilder Med Marine for two new 30-meter ice class tugs expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2020 and first quarter of 2021. The vessels will join Svitzer’s 30-strong fleet of towage vessels in Scandinavia and Germany The tugs have been custom designed to fit Svitzer’s requirements across its Scandinavian operations. The new TundRA 3000 designs were created by Canadian naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd and have Finnish-Swedish ice class 1A status, giving them icebreaking capabilities.

SCHOTTEL said it has secured a contract with Turkish shipbuilder Med Marine to provide propulsion units for a newly built escort and harbor tug. The Robert-Allan-designed tugboat is under construction at the Ereğli Shipyard in Northern Turkey. It will be used for harbor and terminal operations as well as for coastal towing.The main propulsion for the RAmparts 3200 tug consists of a pair of SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers type SRP 460 CP – each driven by a diesel engine with 2,350 kW.
