Steve Parks, a long-tenured and well-known maritime media marketing persona, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on June 7, 2020. He was 45.Steve began his career in maritime publishing in 1998 selling the Shipping World & Shipbuilding. He was hired by John Labdon Associates (JLA) as senior media consultant and was group sales manager for Marine Propulsion magazine from 2003-2007. MTN Launches Live HDTV At Sea

MTN Communications (MTN) has announced another maritime industry first with the launch of its high-definition live television service at sea, MTN Worldwide TV HD (MTN-TV HD). “MTN-TV HD delivers an amazing viewing experience onboard,” said Graham Douglas, media and communications manager, P&O Cruises and Cunard. “We can now experience TV at sea like we can at home. As we transformed the technology and ambience in our common areas, theaters and cabins, we evolved from small to large screens, so our requirement for HD became paramount. This service launch starts with IMG’s Sport 24 Channel in HD. The first-ever 24/7 sports channel designed for the maritime market, it is the most watched sports channel onboard MTN-TV customer vessels.

IMO Launch Day of the Seafarer 2014 'Toolkit'

IMO once again asks people everywhere to show their appreciation for seafarers and their contribution to global prosperity on the Day of the Seafarer, 25, June, and have launched a promotional toolkit to help them to do so. At the heart of this year’s campaign is the simple sentence "Seafarers brought me....". IMO is inviting everyone to complete the sentence with a word of their choice and post it on social media, adding the hashtag "#thankyouseafarers". The missing word can be anything that came by sea: from the cars people drive, the food people eat, the clothes people wear, the gadgets they use or the furniture they sit on.
