McDermott-Chiyoda Sign Cameron LNG Deal

American multinational company McDermott International and its joint venture member Chiyoda have reached an agreement with Cameron LNG related to the construction of its LNG liquefaction project in Louisiana.McDermott and Chiyoda are providing the engineering, procurement and construction for the first three liquefaction trains at the Cameron LNG export project.Cameron LNG is jointly owned by affiliates of Sempra LNG, Total, Mitsui & Co., Ltd., and Japan LNG Investment, LLC, a company jointly owned by Mitsubishi Corporation and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK).Sempra Energy indirectly owns 50.2% of Cameron LNG. Hapag-Lloyd Boosts Direct EAX Service Between Europe and Australia

German liner company Hapag-Lloyd has further improved the Europe Australia Express service (EAX), one of its prime products. New port calls in Fos sur Mer and Pointe de Galets / Short transit times from Europe to Australia unchanged / Italian port switched to Salerno on Northbound leg. According to a media statement from the company, as of December, the French ports Fos sur Mer and Pointe de Galets (La Réunion) will be added to the EAX rotation on the Southbound leg. Furthermore, the Italian call on the Northbound leg will be switched from Genoa to Salerno. With this step, Hapag-Lloyd will improve direct port coverage in Southern Italy while at the same time maintaining good coverage of Northern Italy via other Hapag-Lloyd services and a good train connection.

Rightship Wins PM's Australian Exporter of the Year Award

Global marine and environmental risk assessor, RightShip, has been awarded the Australian Prime MinisterÂ’s Exporter of the Year Award by the Hon. Tony Abbott MP at the 2013 Australian Export Awards in Melbourne. RightShip was established in 2001 to address the lack of accessible, transparent data to enable shippers and charterers to identify and avoid substandard ships. Today, the company says it has more than 215 customers in 40 countries and generates 84 per cent of its revenue outside Australia. RightShipÂ’s online marine and environmental risk management system enables customers to identify in advance the 20 per cent of substandard ship operators who account for approximately 70 per cent of total casualties.

Republic of the Marshall Islands Maritime Administrator Media Statement

"The Republic of the Marshall Islands acknowledges the Commandant's conclusions. The United States Coast Guard's report, with final Commandant action, reinforces many of the findings contained in the flag State’s report released previously," said Bill Gallagher, Senior Deputy Commissioner of Maritime Affairs. "The Marshall Islands looks forward to working closely with the United States and other member States at the International Maritime Organization to implement the lessons that can be learned from this casualty and improve maritime safety going forward," he concluded.
