Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou honored Evergreen Group founder Dr. Chang Yung-Fa with a posthumous commendation in recognition of his contributions to international transportation and social welfare during the memorial service today. The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) has commemorated the 100th anniversary of the disappearance of its first submarine, HMAS AE1, with memorial services in Papua New Guinea and across Australia. In a ceremony held in Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, close to where the ship was last seen, Navy members, local dignitaries, traditional land owners and descendants of the crew gathered to remember the ship lost on September 14, 1914. Director of Navy Submarine Capability Commodore Peter Scott, CSC, RAN officiated in a service held on the shores of Simpson Harbor.

The Navy League of the United States mourns the death of its past national president, Capt. Daniel B. Branch Jr., USN retired. He died on Oct. 21, 2013, of complications from mesothelioma cancer at the age of 75. Memorial services will be held Thursday Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church, 7520 South Boulder Road, Boulder, Colo. Burial services will be held at a future date at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. Dan was born in Greenbelt, Md., in 1937, and graduated in 1959 from the U.S. Naval Academy.

Twenty Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and international warships are anchored in Jervis Bay, poised to sail into Sydney for the International Fleet Review (IFR). They will form part of a global fleet of over 40 ships making a magnificent entry into Sydney Harbour between 6 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, October 4  to commemorate the Navy’s very first fleet entry 100 years ago. VT Halter Marine announced the loss of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Brigadier General Boyd E. King, (Ret.) who passed away unexpectedly on Monday, 20 April 2009 at the company’s Corporate Headquarters in . The cause of death reportedly was a heart attack. BG (Ret) Boyd King joined VT Halter Marine on December 16, 2002, as CEO. Before his appointment at VTHM, Mr. King was a retired Brigadier General with a 35-year career in the United States Army, culminating in his appointment as Director of Transportation, Energy and Troop Support on the Arm Staff.
