Brunvoll Inks DP2 Upgrades Deal for More Møkster Vessels

Maritime systems supplier Brunvoll has signed a contract with Simon Møkster Shipping to deliver upgrades for Stril Mermaid and Stril Mariner vessels.In addition to replacing the existing DP2 systems for the two vessels, Brunvoll will also replace the current propulsion and thruster control systems, as well as the independent joystick system.The systems will be replaced with Brunvoll's BruCon DP2, BruCon PTC (Propulsion & Thruster Control), and BruCon JS.This will ensure even better…

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad Offshore announced it has entered into a new contract for the construction support vessels (CSV) Normand Mermaid.The new contract is in direct continuation of an existing one with Solstad Offshore's present client, keeping the 90.1-meter vessel fully utilized to the second quarter of 2025, with one optional year thereafter.The 2002-built Normand Mermaid will continue be utilized for geotechnical operations within the renewable energy and oil and gas sectors, Solstad said.

Solstad Offshore Nets Work for CSV Duo

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad Offshore has won contracts for two of its medium size construction support vessels.Solstad said Thursday that the Dutch offshore services firm Fugro had chartered its CSV Normand Mermaid for a period of 16 months firm. Mermaid Subsea Services Buys 50% Stake in Offshore Construction Vessel Millennium 3

Thai-based offshore services company Mermaid Subsea Services has agreed to buy a 50% ownership share in the Millennium 3 offshore construction vessel from PT David Marine for $16 million.The Millennium 3 is a DP2 construction support vessel built in 2011 in Indonesia by Nantong Dongjiang Shipyard Co. Ltd. and is currently operating in the Persian Gulf. Classified by Bureau Veritas, the ship is flagged under the state of Comoros, with Moroni listed as its port of registration. New Contracts, Extensions for MMA Offshore

Ukrainian Captain to be Charges over Danube Disaster

Hungarian prosecutors are expected to charge the captain of a cruise ship that struck and sank a small tourist vessel on the River Danube, killing 28 mostly Korean tourists, after police finished their investigation, officials said on Tuesday.The tourist boat Mermaid, with 35 people on board, sank in seconds in May after the river cruiser hit it from behind under a bridge in the Hungarian capital during heavy rain, in the worst disaster on the Danube in more than half a century.Lawyers for the Ukrainian cruiser captain, identified by police as 64-year-old C. Yuriy from Odessa, who has been in custody since he was arrested after the incident, have said he is devastated but did nothing wrong.

DEME Starts Installation at Belgium’s Largest OWF

Belgium-based Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering NV (DEME) said that its installation vessel ‘Innovation’ will set sail to the Belgian North Sea with the first load of 58 turbine foundations and transition pieces for installation at the SeaMade offshore wind farm.Currently the first monopiles and transition pieces are being loaded at SIF Holdings' Maasvlakte terminal in Rotterdam.With a 487 MW capacity SeaMade is the largest offshore wind farm in Belgium. SeaMade stands for a combination of two offshore wind projects, previously known as Mermaid (235 MW) and Seastar (252 MW).DEME’s scope includes the installation of the 58 foundations and all inter-array cables, the installation of two offshore substations and the 220 kV submarine high voltage cable installation.

Siemens Gamesa Firms Belgian Offshore Wind Project

Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) received the order for the 487 MW SeaMade offshore wind power project in Belgium from customer Seamade NV.The wind turbines and services provider said that it includes supply and commissioning of 58 units of the SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbine and a 17-year Service agreement. The project consists of the two combined sites: Seastar, a 252 MW offshore wind power plant with 30 SG 8.0-167 wind turbines and Mermaid, a 235 MW offshore wind power plant with 28 SG 8.0-167 wind turbines.SeaMade NV is a partnership formed of the Otary RS NV (70%), Engie Electrabel NV (17.5%) and Eneco Wind Belgium SA (12.5%). Offshore construction is to commence in 2019 and be completed in 2020.

Mermaid Maritime Wins Subsea Charters

Thailand-based Mermaid Maritime, a subsea and offshore drilling services company, has  been awarded two subsea contracts with a combined estimated value of $4.6 million. The company press release said that the first contract award will involve a short ROV campaign for pipeline touchdown monitoring for an international EPCIC contractor offshore in the Middle East GCC. The second contract award, with work scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2017, will involve use of a diving vessel with work class ROV carrying-out a subsea services project offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia, for an international upstream oil and gas company.

Training to ‘fight and win at sea’ occurs across the Navy every day of the year, but how does that concept map to the hydrographic fleet and their motto ‘diligence and skill’? – step into the world of the Navy’s survey motor launches. HMAS Mermaid, one of four Paluma class vessels, recently completed an intensive five and a half week training program in North Queensland waters in company with her sister ship HMAS Paluma. The ship and her 15-person crew were put through their paces by Navy’s in-house training and assessment team – Minor War Vessel Sea Training Group.
