WiseTech Global Acquires Xware

Global logistics software group, WiseTech Global has announced the acquisition of Xware, a messaging integration solutions provider in Sweden.Xware’s secure, interoperable messaging solution, xTrade, is designed to link organisations to their suppliers and partners, allowing them to safely share information across application to application, business to business, managed file transfers, business process management and IoT ̶  essential for real-time messaging, queued business flows and data integration. Suez Canal Authority Goes for Major Communications Upgrade

Provider of business collaboration and communication solutions, Avaya, says it has signed a major deal with Cairo ICT 2013, which enables the Suez Canal Authority to move their full 15,000 communications ports to Avaya Aura® Communication Manager. In a move towards complete unified communications the Suez Canal Authority will be able to  improve employee mobility, centralizing the communications network with Modular Messaging technology that can 'find' employees and coordinates messaging across sms, email and voice services.

Honeywell Completes Acquisition of EMS Technologies

Honeywell has completed its acquisition of EMS Technologies, Inc., for approximately $491 million. EMS is a leading provider of connectivity solutions for mobile networking, rugged mobile computers and satellite communications. The acquisition will enhance Honeywell’s existing capabilities in rugged mobile computing technologies within its Automation and Control Solutions business (ACS) and satellite communications within its Aerospace business. EMS’s Global Resource Management (GRM) division provides highly ruggedized mobile computing products and services for use in transportation, logistics, and workforce management settings as well as secure satellite-based asset tracking and messaging technology for search and rescue, warehousing, and field force automation environments.

The SatCom Shakeout

The satellite communications sector of the marine market has not been immune from the corporate consolidations that have swept all other corners of the industry, and while this particular niche has been widely regarded as fragmented, it is yet to be seen what the end effect will be for the communication users. However, it can be assumed that competition is still keen, and the name of the communication game continues to center on quality, reliability and capabilities. With an increasing emphasis on the transmission of data rather than traditional voice or fax, it can be assumed that continued efforts will center on widening the information "pipeline" between vessel and shore.
