Oceanteam, Bourbon Sell Construction Support Vessel

Oceanteam and Bourbon have signed a deal to sell their jointly owned construction support vessel Bourbon Oceanteam 101 to an unnamed buyer."The sellers and undisclosed buyers have entered into an NSF agreement for the sale of the vessel, the delivery of which will take place in July 2021," Oceanteam said.This is the joint venture's second recent offshore construction vessel sale, following the sale of its construction support vessel Southern Ocean to Boskalis, completed in late April.Keesjan Cordia, Oceanteam's Chairman of the Board said: "Following the sale of CSV Southern Ocean in April 2021 this sale is another significant and final milestone transitioning away from the conventional offshore shipping industry."The sale of the assets will relieve Oceanteam from its liabilities…

How do you handle communication on your vessel? If you are like many others, you probably use handheld two-way marine VHF radios. That, or simply yelling.There are several inherent issues with using handheld radios for marine communication. Having to push a button to talk means that you cannot use that hand for important work activities, like winching a line or turning the wheel. Since you have to wait to push the button, you can waste valuable seconds when a crewmate needs help or your ship is about to ram into the dock.

New Versatile McDermott CSV Christened

McDermott International, Inc. informs of the christening of its new Construction Support Vessel 108 (“CSV 108”) at Metalships & Docks shipyard in Vigo, Spain. The shipyard hosted a naming ceremony attended by Tony Duncan, Executive Vice President, Subsea for McDermott and Manuel Rodríguez, Chairman of Metalships & Docks, SAU, local dignitaries and project staff. “We expect the CSV108 to join the fleet in 2015, once the final deck equipment has been installed,” said Duncan. CSV108 will immediately transit to Norway for the installation of two portside active heave compensated cranes for the final stage in its construction. McDermott is a leading provider of integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) services for upstream field developments worldwide.

Technip name subsea construction & flexible pipelay projects vessel 'Deep Orient' in Vigo, Spain. During the ceremony held at the Metalships & Docks (MSD) shipyard in Vigo, the ship was named by the vessel’s godmother, Véronique Delormel, wife of Frédéric Delormel, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Subsea at Technip. Thanks to a successful cooperation between Technip's Marine New Builds team in Aberdeen, UK and the MSD team, vessel construction was completed within a tight time frame.

McDermott Signs Shipyard Contract

McDermott’s Lay Vessel 108 will be built at the Vigo, Spain, shipyard with vessel delivery expected around the third quarter 2014.

McDermott International, Inc. (NYSE: MDR) (“McDermott”) announced that it will build another high capacity reeled pipelay vessel with top-tier payload capacity, tentatively named Lay Vessel 108 (“LV108”). The vessel will be a sister ship to the recently completed subsea construction vessel the Lay Vessel North Ocean 105 (“LV105”), and is to be built to similar specifications at Metalships and Docks S.A.U. shipyard in Vigo, Spain. “LV108 is another milestone in our vessel renewal program focusing on the subsea construction market for flexible and rigid product installation,” said Stephen M.

OSV Ship of the Year 'North Sea Giant'

The North Sea Giant is considered to be the largest offshore vessel of this type ever built, with an overall length of 156m, beam of 30m and installed power of more than 22MW. The vessel was given the prize for her innovative features, which include advanced dynamic positioning (DP) capability for DP operations based on a high redundancy level and high propulsion power. North Sea Giant has a capacity for 120 people and its structure is highlighted by its heliport on the bow and a bridge placed up on the sixth deck of the vessel. The vessel boasts a working deck area of close to 3000 sqm .

Wonson to Invest in Shipbuilding

Wonson International Holdings Ltd. said that it would spend $ 449.6m purchasing the 100 percent stake in Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The Hong Kong-listed company will pay the deal with $64.2 million cash and $385.4m worth of convertible redeemable notes. The Jiangxi-based shipyard, in South China, specializes in making and operating metal ships, matching products and equipment of ships, cranes and electric equipment as well as repairing ships.
