Alfultis Appointed President of SUNY Maritime

Dr. Michael A. Alfultis

Dr. Michael A. Alfultis, a retired U.S. Coast Guard captain, and the director and chief administrative officer of the University of Connecticut’s Avery Point campus, has been named as the next president of the SUNY Maritime College. Dr. Alfultis’ appointment was affirmed today by the SUNY Board of Trustees who met in Buffalo. He will begin his Maritime presidential duties on Monday, July 14. SUNY Maritime Spring Commencement: May 9

The State University of New York Maritime College will hold its May Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11 a.m., in the St. Mary’s Pentagon, Fort Schuyler, on the SUNY Maritime campus. Dr. Michael A. Cappeto, Interim President of the Maritime College, will preside over the Commencement. Approximately 220 students are expected to receive degrees during the ceremonies. John J. Ferriola, Chairman, CEO, and President of NUCOR Corporation, will receive an honorary doctorate degree and will deliver the remarks to graduates.
