Singapore MPA, Société Générale Join LNG Advocacy Group

The liquefied natural gas (LNG) advocacy group SEA\LNG has announced the appointment of Paul Taylor representing Société Générale and Capt M. Segar representing MPA (The Maritime and Port Authority) of Singapore as Directors of SEA\LNG Ltd.Following elections last December, Tahir Faruqui and Xavier Pfeuty also join the SEA\LNG Board as new directors representing Shell and Total Marine Fuels respectively.Welcoming them to the Board, reappointed Chairman Peter Keller said: “2018 was an exciting year for the LNG industry and our coalition. As our membership grew to 36 we welcomed Société Générale as our first financial institution and additional ports, including MPA Singapore.

FueLNG Completes First Commercial LNG Bunkering in Singapore

FueLNG, a joint venture between Keppel and Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd (Shell), has achieved the first commercial Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunker transfer in Singapore by completing truck-to-ship bunkering for the Floating Liquefaction (FLNG) vessel, Hilli Episeyo. The LNG bunker transfer, which was carried out in batches from 22 July to 23 September 2017, was conducted in accordance with the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC) Technical Reference for LNG Bunkering (TR 56), which provides a safe, efficient and sustainable technical framework for LNG bunkering operations. Keppel to deliver third FPSO for Shapoorji Pallonji, Bumi Armada JV

Keppel Offshore & Marine's (Keppel O&M) wholly-owned subsidiary Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) is on track to deliver a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel to Armada Madura EPC Limited (Armada Madura), a joint venture between Shapoorji Pallonji Group (Shapoorji Pallonji) and Bumi Armada Berhad (BAB). Keppel Grows LNG Business

Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) announced it has secured contracts to build its first two dual-fuel diesel liquefied natural gas (LNG) harbor tugs, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Keppel-Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell) to jointly explore opportunities in using LNG as fuel. Keppel O&M's wholly owned subsidiary Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd secured the tug contracts from Keppel Smit Towage Pte. Ltd and Maju Maritime Pte. Ltd. who have ordered one unit each. The two tugs are expected to use bunkering services provided by the joint venture company, FueLNG Ltd. The tugs will be built to Keppel's proprietary design which won the Outstanding Maritime R&D and Technology Award at the 2015 Singapore International Maritime Awards.

Keppel to Deliver First North Sea FPSO

Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M)'s wholly-owned subsidiary Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) is on track to deliver a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel to Armada Kraken Pte Ltd (Armada Kraken), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bumi Armada Berhad (Bumi Armada). The naming ceremony of the FPSO, Armada Kraken, was held at Keppel Shipyard yesterday. Armada Kraken is a harsh-environment FPSO unit that is designed for operations in the North Sea under a stringent regulatory regime. The FPSO vessel, which has a design life of 25 years without dry-docking, will be deployed to produce the heavy oil (API degree 14) found in the Kraken field in the UK sector of the North Sea.

Keppel Secures Marine Projects worth S$120 mln

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M)'s wholly owned subsidiary Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) has secured four contracts worth a total of about S$120 million from repeat customers. Mr Michael Chia, Managing Director (Marine & Technology) of Keppel O&M, said, "We are pleased to secure new orders from long-time customers who continue to entrust their projects with us, whether it is for turret fabrication or vessel upgrades. The first contract that Keppel Shipyard secured is from BW Catcher Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of BW Offshore, for the installation and integration of topside modules for a newbuild Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.

Keppel Shipyard Wins FPSO Conversion Contract

Even as world energy prices continue to maintain low pricing levels, offshore contracts are there to be won. Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd has secured a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) conversion contract as well as three repair, upgrade and modification contracts worth a total of about S$125 million. The FPSO conversion project Keppel Shipyard will be undertaking is for Armada Madura EPC Limited, a joint venture between long-standing customer Bumi Armada Berhad (Bumi Armada) and Shapoorji Pallonji Group (Shapoorji Pallonji). "This is our third conversion/upgrading project for the joint venture," said Michael Chia, Managing Director (Marine & Technology), Keppel O&M.

Totem Inks LNG Conversion Deal with Keppel

Totem Ocean Trailer Express announced that it has signed a contract with Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd, wholly owned subsidiary Keppel Shipyard Ltd for the conversion of  the  Midnight Sun to dual fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion. This is the world’s first major conversion of a large RO/RO vessel to LNG. The work will begin in December and is expected to be completed in 90 days. Once complete, the Midnight Sun will emit fewer air and greenhouse gas emissions, reducing emissions of particulate matter by 91 percent, NOx by 100 percent, SOx by 90 percent and carbon dioxide by 35 percent. Her sister ship, the North Star, is expected to be converted in the 2016/2017 time frame. Totem Ocean will be the first in North America to begin the conversion to natural gas.

Keppel Signs $684m FLNG Conversion Deal with Golar

Keppel Shipyard has signed its third contract with Golar Gandria for vessel conversion works. The $684 million contract to convert a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier to a floating liquefaction facility (FLNG) with the subsidiary of United Kingdom-based Golar LNG will become effective by Sep 21, said Keppel. The contract will become effective upon the parties fulfilling certain conditions precedent by 21 September 2015. The award of the conversion of the Gandria marks the exercise of the second of two options, which were part of a contract awarded by Golar to Keppel Shipyard for the conversion of the Moss LNG carrier, HILLI, into a GoFLNG facility. The first option was exercised in December 2014 for the conversion of the GIMI, also a Moss type LNG carrier.

Mega Maritime Event in Singapore

Singapore is gearing up to host more than 14,000 participants from over 60 countries, this month, at Sea Asia 2015 — one of the region’s largest maritime conferences and leading forum for analysis and debate on the challenges and opportunities facing the sector. Singapore Maritime Foundation chairman, Michael Chia, said this year’s Sea Asia recognizes Singapore’s position as an international maritime centre and highlight the role the industry has played in the country’s growth. “The maritime industry, which employs some 170,000 people in Singapore and contributes around 7% of Singapore’s GDP, has played a key role in driving Singapore’s development and this trend is set to continue,” he said in a press release.

Keppel Wins Second FLNG Conversion Contract

Keppel Shipyard has secured a firm contract from Golar Gimi Corporation (Golar Gimi), a subsidiary of Golar LNG Limited (Golar LNG), to perform the conversion of a second Moss Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier, the GIMI, into a Floating Liquefaction Vessel (FLNGV). The contract, which has become effective, is worth approximately $705 million. Keppel to Convert Second FLNGV for Golar

Keppel Shipyard Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd, informed that it is in the process of finalising contracts with Golar Gimi Limited (Golar Gimi), a subsidiary of Golar LNG Limited (Golar LNG), to perform the conversion of a second Moss LNG carrier, the GIMI, into a Floating Liquefaction Vessel (FLNGV). Earlier on 3 July 2014, Keppel Shipyard was awarded a firm contract by Golar Hilli Corporation (Golar Hilli) to perform the world's first-of-its-type conversion of a Moss LNG carrier, the HILLI, into an FLNGV, and the contract included options for another two similar units. The forthcoming conversion award of the GIMI will mark the exercise of the first of these two options.

Keppel FLNG MOSS Vessel Conversion Contract Activated

Keppel Shipyard says that the contract it entered into earlier with Golar Hilli Corporation to perform the world's first-of-its-type conversion of an existing Moss LNG carrier, the Hilli, into a Floating Liquefaction Vessel (FLNGV), has become effective. The contract is worth approximately US$735 million. In carrying out the FLNGV conversion, Keppel Shipyard explains that it shall be responsible for the provision of the design, detailed engineering and procurement of the marine systems and all of the conversion-related construction services. Keppel Shipyard's scope also includes engaging Black & Veatch to provide design, procurement and commissioning support services for the topsides and liquefaction process.

Keppel Reports Batch of New Projects

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd.'s (Keppel O&M) subsidiaries Keppel Shipyard Ltd., Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd. and Keppel Nantong Shipyard Co. Ltd. have secured contracts worth a total of about S$140 million. Keppel Shipyard will undertake for SOFEC, Inc. (SOFEC) the fabrication of an external turret mooring system for an FPSO vessel that will operate in the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme fields in Ghana, in water depth averaging 1,500 meters. Keppel Wins $120m in Offshore Contracts

Keppel and NUS Set Up Corporate Lab

Keppel Corporation (Keppel) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) announced the founding of the Keppel-NUS Corporate Laboratory, in collaboration with the National Research Foundation (NRF), Prime Minister's Office, Singapore. The laboratory, which will be based at the NUS Faculty of Engineering, will be established with an investment amount of S$75 million. The launch of the Keppel-NUS Corporate Laboratory was graced by Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, Teo Chee Hean, who is also Chairman of NRF. The Keppel-NUS Corporate Laboratory is the second laboratory to be established under the NRF's Corp Lab at University scheme, which is established to support Singapore's autonomous universities in their conduct of industry-relevant research with companies as partners.

SBM Offshore Awards Keppel Deal for Two FPSOs

These contracts are from SBM Offshore N.V. (SBM Offshore) and M3nergy Offshore Limited (M3nergy Offshore). Keppel’s Secure Contracts Worth S$160 Million

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd's (Keppel O&M) subsidiaries, Keppel Subic Shipyard, Inc. (Keppel Subic Shipyard) in the Philippines and Keppel Verolme BV (Keppel Verolme) in the Netherlands, have secured contracts totalling S$160 million. Keppel Subic Shipyard has been awarded a contract from Shell Philippines Exploration BV (SPEX) to build a Depletion Compression Platform (DCP) to support the recovery of natural gas from the Malampaya gas field near Palawan Island, in the Philippines. When completed, the DCP will be deployed next to an existing shallow water production platform. The DCP is designed to maintain the current availability and deliverability of natural gas from the Malampaya field through regulating the gas export pressure and flow rates.
