Hempel Launches New Antifouling Solution

Hempel launched Atlantic+, a new antifouling coating.According to Hempel, Atlantic+ is designed to protect the hull from fouling throughout service intervals of up to 60 months suitable for all vessel types and all water temperatures. To complete its mission, Atlantic+ incorporates a biocide package and proven binder system. In addition, the new coating is reinforced with Hempel's patented microfiber technology at a higher level of the company's strongest cargo hold coating – Hempadur Ultra Strength Fiber.

Hempel Coatings for Lemissoler Newbuilds

Global shipmanagement company, Lemissoler Navigation, via its affiliated and managed company Frontmarine Co. Ltd, has coated four of its eight newbuild 58,500 dwt supramax bulk carriers with Hempel’s Dynamic antifouling product, and based on its performance, is planning to coat the remaining four vessels with the same product. As part of an environmental efficiency drive, Lemissoler has adopted a unique hull design for the new vessels, fitted them with fuel-efficient propellers and coated the undersides with Dynamic. According to the design specification, fuel consumption was calculated at 24.7 metric tons per day at 14.2 knots in ballast condition. Thanks to the eco-innovations, these vessels in sea trials are achieving a fuel consumption of 23 metric tons.

According to the design specification, fuel consumption was calculated at 24.7 tonnes per day at 14.2 knots in ballast condition. Thanks to the eco-innovations, these vessels in sea trials are achieving a fuel consumption of just 23 tonnes.

Hempel Launches High-Solids Antifouling

Hempel is launching high-solids versions of their Globic, Oceanic and Olympic antifoulings, which offer optimized features and stronger ROI, according to the company. The new versions, Globic 9000, Globic 6000, Oceanic+ and Olympic+, have been optimized to offer the benefits of high-solids. Reflecting Hempel’s commitment to investment in R&D, they offer optimized binder systems, polishing rates, biocides and solids levels. Globic 9000 is Hempel’s new top-end antifouling. An evolution of Globic NCT, it can be specified for 90-month docking intervals. Globic 6000 is a new product in the Globic series, which builds on the same technology as Globic 9000. It is suitable for 60-month intervals.
