Evergreen Expands its Service Network to Northern Mindanao

In order to offer a wide-ranging service to the whole market of the Philippines especially in Mindanao Island, Evergreen Line who operates the fourth largest container fleet in the world will launch the new Taiwan-Philippines Service (TPH) adding new port call at Mindanao Container Terminal in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. The dedicated South Philippines feeder loop will utilize two containerships with a minimum capacity of 1, 300 TEU. The first sailing of the weekly TPH service will start on October 25, 2017 from Kaohsiung, Taiwan and calls at Cebu City, Cagayan de Oro City, General Santos City, Davao City and then back to Kaohsiung, Taiwan as main transhipment hub connecting to all Evergreen's global service network.

MOL LNG Carrier Rescues Fisherman

On August 17, the MOL-managed LNG carrier Energy Advance found and rescued one fisherman on a fishing boat that had been drifting without sufficient fuel about 300km east of the Mindanao Island of the Republic of the Philippines. At 1 p.m. (local time) on August 17, the Energy Advance, out of Sodegaura, Japan, bound for Dampier, Australia, found a fishing boat that had run out of fuel. The fisherman aboard the fishing boat was rescued roughly 45 minutes later and was turned over to the Port Authority of the Republic of the Philippines on August 18. The Japanese-registered Energy Advance is a 289.53-meter, LNG carrier with a gross tonnage of 119,233 metric tons. Aboard the vessel were 10 Japanese and 18 Indonesian sailors.

MOL: Supporting Typhoon Relief Efforts in Philippines

MOL Training Ship Spirit of MOL Transports Aid Supplies; Volunteer Work on Site. MOL President Koichi Muto announced that its training ship, the Spirit of MOL (*1) has delivered aid supplies to Misamis Oriental Province on Mindanao Island, the Philippines, which suffered severe damage from typhoon Sendong (International name: Washi) in mid-December. MOL Supports Typhoon Relief Efforts in the Philippines

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Koichi Muto) today announced that the company has contributed US$30,000 to typhoon Washi relief efforts on Mindanao Island through its group company Magsaysay MOL Marine, Inc.*1 (Magsaysay-MOL).
