US Receiving Last Russian Oil Cargoes Before Wind-down

Nine tankers carrying Russian-origin crude and fuel oil have discharged in the United States in April, likely the last ones to deliver before a wind-down set by Washington expires this week, customs and tanker tracking data showed.The United States last month set an April 22 ban on imports of Russian crude and refined products. The United States gave importers of Russian petroleum, liquefied natural gas and coal 45 days to take en route and under-contract cargoes.Tanker Seamagic, which loaded fuel oil at Russia’s Taman port, discharged at Valero Energy’s St. Charles, Louisiana, refinery last week, the last of the nine tracked to discharge.

Grand Bahama Shipyard Reports Commercial Success

Minerva Selects Ecochlor BWTS for up to 30 Vessels

Ecochlor, Inc. informs it has signed an agreement with Minerva Marine, Inc. for the potential supply of ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) for up to 30 vessels under its management for installations in accordance to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) implementation plan. The Ecochlor technology was selected for retrofit in Minerva’s managed bulkers and tankers varying in size from medium range (MR) to very large crude carriers (VLCC).

Wärtsilä BWMS Selected by Minerva Marine

The technology group Wärtsilä has agreed to supply globally operating tanker vessels managed by Minerva Marine with Aquarius ballast water management systems (BWMS). The agreement covers the retrofit of several vessels and represents an important milestone in the BWMS retrofit market. The main BWMS chosen for tankers managed by Minerva Marine Inc. is the Wärtsilä Aquarius ATEX compliant Electro Chlorintation EX, which uses a proven two-stage process involving both filtration and electro-chlorination (EC). The system is EX/ATEX approved, which is a requirement for oil tankers.

Minerva Marine Turns to BMT for Monitoring

BMT SMART (BMT), the specialist fleet and vessel performance management company of BMT Group, has announced the successful installation of its vessel performance monitoring system on board two of Minerva Marine’s chemical tankers, MINERVA LEO and MINERVA TYCHI. For the most accurate Performance Management, the BMT SMART system combines data collected automatically on-board, from the navigation and automation systems, with data only available on shore, such as accurate Hindcast Metocean data.

First Iron Ore Trade Using CargoDocs Electronic Bills of Lading

BHP Billiton, Royal Bank of Scotland, Westpac Banking Corporation, Cargill and Minerva Marine recently completed the first trade financed iron ore trade using ESS’s CargoDocs electronic bill of lading and eUCP Presentation solutions. CargoDocs was used on a shipment from Australia to China. In this trade the electronic bill of lading was drafted by BHP Billiton in Shanghai (eliminating the need for separate document instructions). It was then approved signed and issued on behalf of Minerva Marine by Wilhelmsen Ships Services in Port Hedland, Australia. BHP Billiton created original electronic peripheral documents within CargoDocs and the whole eSet was endorsed and presented electronically to RBS under an eUCP600 letter of credit.

Minerva and Transas Partner for Paperless Navigation

Transas Hellas has recently agreed with Minerva Marine Inc. to equip its fleet with ECDIS and official charts aiming to shift within a specified timeframe to paperless navigation. In addition to the premium line of Transas ECDIS and Transas Admiralty Data Service TADS (official ENCs), Minerva Marine has decided to deploy additional back up arrangements both for hardware and software, including Transas TX-97 vector charts. Five vessels of the fleet have already been commissioned and are currently implementing the transition procedures from paper to paperless navigation. Minerva Marine Inc.
