Hanwha Ocean to Recruit Vietnamese Workers

South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean is conducting a comprehensive cooperation project to train and recruit Vietnamese workers.Hanwha Ocean signed an MOU with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam (MOIT) in Hanoi, Vietnam on July 22. The aim is to meet the recruitment needs of Hanwha Ocean in the future by supporting programs for strengthening the capabilities of vocational training institutions under the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade. Through this, Hanwha Ocean expects to be able to establish a stable recruitment plan for skilled foreign technical personnel.

MHI Nuclear Engineering Training in Vietnam

On December 5, a ceremony was held at Electric Power University (EPU) in Hanoi, Vietnam, to mark the start of the fourth year Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) is providing instruction in nuclear engineering at this educational institution. The ceremony was attended by numerous guests and dignitaries, including: Nguyen Cuong Lam, Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN); representatives from Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ministry of Education and Training; and Mr. Michio Daito, Counselor at the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam. Representing EPU was President Dam Xuan Hiep, while MHI was represented by Masato Iida, General Manager of the Nuclear Energy Systems Division, Energy & Environment Domain.

Major Agreement Signed At 21st World Petroleum Congress

At the 21st World Petroleum Congress Rosneft, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Gazprom, NOVATEK, Gazprombank, Sovkomflot, United Shipbuilding Corporation signed a Joint Venture Agreement in relation to the implementation of vessel, drilling rig and marine equipment construction and design projects on the 16th of June. The document was signed in the presence of Vice-Premier Arkady Dvorkovich. Maritime Industry Gears up for St. Petersburg

The impact of the massive and continuing transformation of Russia’s maritime industries will be on show to the world when the all-encompassing NEVA 2013 exhibition and conference program takes place in St. Petersburg from September 24-27. Tidewater to Acquire Troms Offshore Supply

US Firm, Tidewater, agrees with HitecVision to purchase Norway's Troms offshore, including 5 large PSV's. Tidewater say that the acquisition of Troms Offshore, headquartered in Tromsø, Norway, will expand their global footprint into the Norwegian sector of the North Sea and supplement their experience and vessel fleet operating in harsh environments, including cold climates. The Troms Offshore-owned fleet is expected to include five large, modern and technically-advanced deepwater Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) at closing. In addition, Troms Offshore has one additional deepwater PSV under construction at the VARD Aukra yard in Møre og Romsdal, Norway and an option to build a seventh vessel.

Russia is Open for Business at NEVA 2013

NEVA 2013, which convenes in Russia’s ‘maritime capital’ St Petersburg between September 24 and 27, will offer delegates and exhibitors the opportunity to scrutinise the significant developments in the structure and operation of Russia’s maritime industries and the nation’s growing presence on the international stage. Organized by UK-based Dolphin Exhibitions at the Lenexpo exhibition complex, NEVA 2013 is expected to attract more than 870 exhibitors from over 55 countries seeking to broaden trading ties with Russia. It will also feature a wide-ranging conference and seminar programme with an array of leading Russian and foreign experts ready to debate the key issues.

Second International Exhibition of Shipbuilding Slated for Moscow

The second International Complex Exhibition of Shipbuilding, Water Resources Use and Exploration, “The Ocean 2012,” in Moscow November 29 through December 1,  will  address all aspects of marine activities at one venue, to combine the interests of science and manufacture, but also draw the attention of International business community to the latest developments in different spheres of exploration. The exhibition is held under the patronage of Maritime Collequim of the Government of the Russian Federation and Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The exhibition seeks to support the extension of the innovative and industrial cooperation with foreign countries.
