KVH & Intelsat: On the Digitization Fast Track

While the ship owners and ship managers historically have eschewed the push to increase connectivity at sea, the path to efficiency in the digital age is paved with a robust, high speed and affordable connection. KVH and Intelsat are cooperating to provide all that and more.According to the Crew Connectivity 2018 Survey Report, based on a survey of 6,000 serving seafarers and sponsored by KVH Industries and Intelsat, approximately 75% of seafarers can no use the internet at sea, a 32% jump in three years.

KVH Ships 8,000th Mini-VSAT System

Nordic Hamburg Inks Connectivity Deal with KVH

BW Adds KVH Connectivity Services to 45 More Vessels

KVH Industries, Inc. announced that BW Group has chosen KVH’s connectivity services for 45 additional vessels in its fleet. E.R. Schiffahrt Enhances Vessel Connectivity

KVH Industries, Inc., announced that global ship manager E.R. Schiffahrt has chosen KVH’s new advanced TracPhone V7-HTS antenna equipment and the AgilePlans subscription-based Connectivity as a Service (CaaS) program to bring fast, global connectivity to its container and dry bulk vessels. KVH Introduces YOURlink

KVH Industries, Inc. has announced that it is introducing KVH YOURlink, a content delivery service that fleet managers and owners can use to distribute company-produced videos to all vessels in their fleet. The company will be presenting the new service at Nor-Shipping in Lillestrom, Norway, this week. A new addition to KVH’s IP-MobileCast content delivery service, YOURlink takes a process that once required weeks or months of shipping time and the cost of distributing DVDs or flash drives, and makes it nearly instantaneous.

KVH Ships 7,000th mini-VSAT Broadband System

KVH Industries, Inc. has shipped more than 7,000 mini-VSAT Broadbandsm systems, designed and manufactured by KVH to provide mobile connectivity at sea. The TracPhone V-series satellite communications antenna systems are currently in use on everything from small recreational sailboats cruising the coastline to 1,000-foot commercial freighters transiting the world’s oceans. KVH launched the mini-VSAT Broadband service in July 2007, and has seen the popularity of the service grow, coinciding with an overall trend in the maritime industry toward increased reliance on broadband connectivity. As recently as September 2016, industry analyst Northern Sky Research reported that KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband customers account for 29 percent of the vessels using Ku-band service.

Pacific Basin Equips 99 Ships with KVH Mini-VSAT

Dry bulk shipping company Pacific Basin Shipping Limited has deployed KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband solution on its entire fleet of 99 owned ships as part of its effort to modernize ship-shore communications. “Satellite communications continue to become more cost-effective over time as requirements rapidly grow for bandwidth and speed,” said Capt. Woodhead Appointed Sr V. P., Training & Content, KVH

Major Commercial Fleets Commit to New KVH Broadband Airtime Plans

KVH's Zika Virus Safety Video for Mariners

KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI), announced today that it is offering Videotel’s new safety and training video about the Zika virus free to all mariners worldwide. The goal of the program is to increase awareness  of the vitally important prevention measures that can keep seafarers and their colleagues and families safe. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Zika virus a public health emergency earlier this year. Given the global nature of the maritime industry, it is imperative that seafarers take precautions to prevent further spread of the disease. The prevalence of the Zika virus in such areas as Brazil has heightened concerns with the approaching Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next month.

Videotel, Safebridge JV for Onboard ECDIS Certification

Videotel, a provider of e-Learning maritime training solutions and a company of KVH Industries, has joined forces with online maritime training business Safebridge GmbH, which specializes in ECDIS training, to provide shipping companies with the unique ability to certify their seafarers on ECDIS type-specific training while serving onboard. More than 30 ECDIS type-specific training courses will be available, which is the most comprehensive offering in the industry. KVH, Transas Team Up for Electronic Charts Update

KVH Industries, Inc., and Transas announced today a strategic relationship designed to ensure vessels at sea receive affordable, timely updates of mandatory electronic chart data.
