Levesque Named President of CMA CGM America

Container Terminal Operators Forms Hong Kong Seaport Alliance

Shipping Industry Signs Up to Pilot XVELA Platform

Management Appointments at Modern Terminals

Modern Terminals Limited (MTL), Hong Kong’s longest established container terminal operator, today announced the appointment of Mr. Keith Saunders as its new Managing Director – Hong Kong, effective from 1st February 2016. Mr. Saunders will lead Modern Terminals’ Brand Promises initiatives in Hong Kong, especially in the areas of operational excellence, innovation and infrastructure development. Mr. Saunders brings three decades of container terminal and operating systems experience to Modern Terminals. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Saunders held a number of senior management positions in American President Lines (APL) focusing on US West Coast terminal, rail and cargo management operations.

China Merchants Profit up 29pct

While China’s ports continue to face growth pressure, the country’s largest port operator is reaping the rewards of years of investments in overseas projects. China Merchants Holdings (International) reported first-half net profit rose 29 per cent to HK$2.78 billion  ($US 361 million)  from a year ago, after throughput gains at Chinese terminals exceeded China’s overall container growth rate and traffic through overseas facilities rose at a double-digit clip. The profit is driven by steady growth from ports and contributions from overseas greenfield projects. Chairman Li Jianhong said he expected the growth of mainland operations to slow, but noted an overall growth in the second half can be sustained.

N4 is Navis’ latest generation TOS, allowing customers the flexibility and scalability needed to run their operations - from a single terminal to multiple terminals spanning numerous geographic locations managed from one central location.
