ClassNK Grants Its fFrst Remote Survey Notation

ClassNK granted its Remote Survey (RMSV) notation for ORCA ACE, PCC operated by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and managed by MOL Ship Management Co., Ltd. (MOLSHIP). This is the first vessel on ClassNK’s registry to be marked with RMSV notation.To provide a proper guidance for remote surveys using ICT, ClassNK published its Guidelines for Remote Surveys (Ver.2) in January 2021 by incorporating outcomes of investigation and examination for presenting a transparent standards for remote survey application and ensuring reliability equivalent to conventional witness surveys. MOL Tabletop Drill Focuses on Car Carrier Safety

Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL) has announced that it conducted a tabletop drill based on an incident involving a car carrier managed by an MOL Group ship management company. MOL holds these drills periodically to confirm its emergency response system in preparation for serious marine incidents. The drill was held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, with the goal of raising company-wide safety awareness through the simulated experience of a serious marine incident. It was designed to ensure that the company can respond swiftly and appropriately in case of a serious marine incident, and maintain the timely flow of accurate information. MOL also strives to further sharpen its group-wide emergency response readiness through these regular exercises.

MOL Group Develops Onboard Labor Management Software

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd has announced that its group's core dry-cargo ship management company, MOL Ship Management Co., Ltd. has jointly developed with maritime software developer Spectral Technologies, Inc. a new onboard management software program called "WRH5" used to manage crews' work and rest hours. MOLSHIP will introduce "WRH5" on its managed vessels. In addition, Nippon Kaiji Kyokai  issued a statement of fact that "WRH5"'s support functions are in conformity with international labor regulations. - Conformity with MLC2006 and the Japanese Mariners Law. "WRH5" supports the latest provisions of MLC-Maritime Labor Convention, 2006, of the International Labor Organization (ILO), and Japanese Mariners Law. -Meticulously formulate onboard working plans.

ISO Certification for MOL Ship Management Company

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd., today announced that its group ship management company for dry bulkers, Magsaysay MOL Ship Management, Inc. has acquired certifications from Nihon Kaiji Kyokai, for Energy Management Systems (ISO50001*1) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001*2) on June 18. MMSM’s certifications cover ship management of bulk carriers and other cargo ships, as well as office operations onshore. MOL Ship Management Co., Ltd. acquired the same certificates in July 2014, followed by MOL Ship Management (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. and New Asian Shipping Company Ltd. With MMSM’s acquisition in this time, all 4 MOL Group ship management companies for dry bulkers have earned ISO50001 and ISO14001certification.

MOL Ship Management Earns Energy/Enviromental Certifications

First company to receive ISO50001 certification from Nihon Kaiji Kyokai. MOL Ship Management Co., Ltd. (MOLSHIP), a core ship management company in the corporate group headed by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), has announced acquisition of certifications from Nihon Kaiji Kyokai (NK; Chairman and President: Noboru Ueda), for Energy Management Systems (ISO50001*1) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001*2). NK Executive Vice President Koichi Fujiwara presented the certificates to MOLSHIP President Furukawa in July 29 ceremony at NK headquarters.

MOL to Migrate Fleet to 6GB FleetBroadband Plan

Inmarsat say that MOL Ship Management has commenced migrating over 100 vessels to the FleetBroadband 6 gigabyte (GB) plan for the primary purpose of enhancing both crew welfare and business operations. The decision to upgrade was made following a trial period on several selected vessels. “Any FleetBroadband user can quickly and easily upgrade their plans without additional capital investment and data usage can be shared across vessels,” said Frank Coles, President of Inmarsat Maritime. Inmarsat, a provider of global mobile satellite communications services, has announced that global shipping company MOL Ship Management Co. Ltd. have commenced migrating over 100 vessels to the FleetBroadband 6 gigabyte (GB) plan for the primary purpose of enhancing both crew welfare and business operations.
