Coast Guard Foundation to Host Pacific Awards

The Coast Guard Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced that it will host its 29th Annual Pacific Area Awards Dinner in tribute to the United States Coast Guard at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the historic Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. The gala event will bring together civic and business leaders, mariners, sailors, and notables from all over the country to honor heroism and mission excellence from the brave men and women serving in the Coast Guard’s Pacific area.

California Leaders to Convene for Maritime Conference

The 14th Annual California Maritime Leadership Symposium, slated to take place February 19-20 at the Sacramento Convention Center, attracts key members from California’s State Legislature and representatives from California’s ports and the maritime industry. AAPA Cruise Seminar to Explore, Assess Industry Issues

The American Association of Port Authorities’ (AAPA) 2013 Cruise Seminar in San Francisco, April 24-26, will kick off with a candid look inside the cruise industry from the perspective of four key cruise line executives and end with a tour of the Port of San Francisco to see the impact of the America’s Cup on port operations. In between these bookend sessions, seminar participants will be treated to a host of presentations ranging from new international regulations on ship air emissions to itinerary planning, cruise facility design, financing and joint-use terminal opportunities.

Princess Cruises to Base Ship Year-round in San Francisco

Princess Cruises has announced that for the first time it will base a ship in San Francisco year round, beginning in May 2013.The extensively renovated Grand Princess will first offer a series of Alaska cruises during the summer months from the "City by the Bay," followed by a schedule of Hawaiian Islands, Mexico and the California Coast sailings during the fall 2013 to spring 2014 season. Last year the 2,600-passenger Grand Princess underwent the largest drydock in Princess Cruises history…
